18: PILLOW TALK

It was pretty late that night when they finally got into bed.

Tonight was like no other night that he had before. He was a little drained, both physically and mentally.

He had never been around so many family members in one place and it had been a little...

okay, a lot...overwhelming.

And tonight was just a small group. Tomorrow was the big party with about 50 people, where a lot more family would show up.

As he waited for Phayu to finish his shower, Rain snuggled deeper into the cozy bed and thought back on the evening.

During the drive up, Phayu had given him a rundown of his family.

His parents had moved there a few years ago when they had both retired. His father had turned his luxury garage over to Saifah, and his mother had retired from her private practice.

The property had been in their mother's family for years and had been added on to over time. Phayu's grandparents lived there along with his parents and another aunt and uncle. 

So there was a large main house that his parents lived in with rooms for the two boys when they visited, two smaller villas for the others, and a guest house. 

There were also many gathering spots where the crowd from the party tomorrow night could spread out.

The compound was nothing short of stunning. Very traditional in style with lots of gardens, pools, a pavilion, and a beautiful stream running through it on the edge of the property.

Even though he had never seen anything like it before, Rain loved it. Despite its size and old-world grandeur, it still managed to feel warm and welcoming.

Phayu had taken his hand and threaded his fingers through supportively as they entered the house where his parents were waiting to meet him.

Meeting Phayu's parents had been nerve-wracking. Even though they were only pretending, it had felt so real, so important.
