By the time Rain went downstairs dressed in the t-shirt and sweatpants that had been left for him, Phayu was putting the finishing touch on dinner.
The noodles had been drained and placed into a bowl and the stir-fry was sizzling hot and ready.
Phayu had collapsed the glass wall that led to a wooden deck in the backyard with an overhang that protected the seating area from the elements.
There were already two chairs facing the yard on the deck and a table set with a jug of water and glasses.
The air that was flowing in was cool, clean, fresh - rain-washed.
Rain went into the kitchen and asked, "What can I help with?"
"You can grab some bowls and utensils. They are in the cupboard and drawer over there."
He placed the two bowls with the food on the dining table. "Do you want to serve and sit outside? It's nice now that the rain has eased."
And sure enough, the rain had finally stopped, allowing the moon to break through the cloud cover.
Moonbeams lit the raindrops that were clinging to the leaves and grass outside, making the yard feel a bit magical and lively.
Rain smiled and nodded entranced by the sight.
Phayu took the bowls from his hands and filled them with food.
They settled in outside and slipped easily into comfortable chatter.
They hardly noticed the time flying by as they talked about a million things. Nothing too personal, but everyday things - what movies they liked, books that they had read, anime, and shows they had watched.
Given their age difference, it was surprising that they liked quite a few similar things, but they also enjoyed hearing about new things that were unfamiliar especially when the other person's eyes sparkled as they shared things they liked.
By the time they finished dinner, it was after 11. Neither was ready to sleep just having eaten and napped beforehand.
They decided to watch a movie and picked an action-packed one that neither had seen.
Phayu laid down on the couch and pulled Rain down next to him.
As they watched the movie, Phayu played with Rain's hair as he lay nestled against his side, Rain's hands somehow wrapped around Phayu's body as he lay on his chest.
Halfway through the movie, Phayu offered to get the ice cream. He filled up a big bowl and came back with one spoon.
"Are we sharing?" Rain asked.
"Yes, is that ok?"
"Sure."
This time, Phayu sat on the couch facing the TV and pulled Rain's legs over his thighs so that Rain's back was against the corner armrest and facing him.
