Sherlock and I were laying tangled up in each other in bed and he was running his fingertips up and down my back as I cuddled into his side.
"Trying for a baby is now my favorite thing to do." Sherlock said and I laughed gently smacking his chest.
"Like sex wasn't fun before?!" I asked and he huffed a laugh.
"No I mean it's always been fun." Sherlock said and then rolled on his side so he could looked at me. "But now knowing what the outcome could be...I'm excited Portia." Sherlock said. I smiled, leaning in and giving him a passionate kiss. He pulled me flush against him when we broke apart and we just snuggled into each other.
As we started to doze off there was an insistent amount of knocking on the door.
"Who the hell is that?" I asked as we both got up, put on our robes and headed to the door. I smoothed down my hair on the way knowing it looked a mess. Sherlock made sure I was somewhat behind him as he opened the door.
"Enola?! That knocking was you?" I asked seeing her and Tewkesbury standing there.
"We need to talk..." Enola said busting past both of us.
"No please come in, we are only in our robes." Sherlock said and I backhanded his chest.
"Cant you see she is clearly shaking." I said and he sighed noticing. "Enola, what's wrong?"
"I need to talk to Sherlock, alone..." Enola said and I groaned.
"No...Enola, you came banging on our door, you knew I was here. Sherlock and I are married. Whatever you have to say you can say in front of me." I said and Sherlock nodded as well as he came up behind me and placing his hands on my hips.
"Well okay. When we left here earlier Tewkesbury and I went to the PI office to see if there was anything there. Well there was a note left on the counter that wasn't there when I was at the office this morning. I read it and Sherlock...It's Irene." Enola said and I felt my blood run cold and heart stop at the same time. Sherlocks grip on me tensed.
"What?" Sherlock asked and Enola went to hand us the note and I snatched it from her unfolding it.
-Miss Enola,
It's been a year and he still hasn't found me, figures he wouldn't since he has a wife to care for now. Can you believe they want to start a family? What about you Enola, can you find me before I start causing more havoc and damage to your precious family?
Irene-I looked at Sherlock as I held the note in my hand. I was shaking and Sherlock growled behind me reading it. He then snatched it from my hands and crumpled it up.
"I thought this was over! You said it was!" Sherlock said yelling at me.
"Hey! I never said it was over! I just said it had been a year, it was time to move on!" I corrected him.
"Sherlock...maybe -..."
"ENOLA! STOP!" Sherlock voice boomed shocking all of us. I rushed to Enola's side and grabbed her hand and looked at Sherlock.
"Hey! You don't need to yell! She just brought you something she thought we needed to see." I said and Enola sighed.
"Should we go?" Enola asked in a small voice. I nodded and hugged her
"I will get him to calm down." I whispered as we hugged and they left. Sherlock was pacing. "Sherlock, talk to me..." I said and he groaned.
"We thought this was over, it's been a year Portia." Sherlock said.
"I know, I thought it was for sure. I thought she gave up." I said and he groaned.
"She knows we want to start a family. She has been around this whole time! She heard us talking!" Sherlock said and I sighed.
"I know Sherlock, I know." I said hanging my head.
"No! You don't! This is what I was scared of! What I knew was going to happen! We would get comfortable, we would feel safe and here she comes rearing her ugly head." Sherlock said.
"So, we ignore her! It's not that hard!" I said.
"Ignore it! She is already coming after us and now the family! You would be okay if something happened to someone because I didn't try and stop her?!" Sherlock said and I looked at him as he stopped pacing.
"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" I asked.
"I have to go after her Portia!" Sherlock yelled.
"And where are you going to go to look for her may I ask? There are no clues on that note! Nothing!" I yelled.
"She has to be close. To hear us talking about a baby and then to drop it at the office..." Sherlock said and I could tell the wheels in his head were turning.
"Sherlock please! Stop!" I yelled pulling him from his thoughts and he looked at me.
"What?!" Sherlock growled at me and I just crossed my arms.
"Please don't go after her, I beg of you...please." I said and walked up to him and placed my hands on his chest. "Stay here, with me. You giving in to her, it's what she wants Sherlock. She wants this cat and mouse game with you. Problem is you always get screwed in the end. Stay here with me and just ignore her." I said and Sherlock grabbed my wrist gently and removed my hands from his chest.
"I won't let her harm you and the family. I have to find her Portia. I have to end this." Sherlock said and stalked into the bedroom and started packing a bag.
"You looking for her requires a bag to be packed?!" I asked and he sighed.
"I might be gone for a couple of days." Sherlock said as I sat on the foot of the bed.
"Sherlock..." I said and he ignored me. Once he was done packing, he got dressed. He walked over to me and went to kiss me, but I turned my head. "I will not kiss you goodbye." I said as tears threatened my eyes. Sherlock grabbed my chin and turned my face to look at him. He leaned down and gently placed his lips on mine as tears started to fall. Once we broke apart, he didn't let me go and just looked at me.
"I will catch her this time." Sherlock said.
"Please just let her go. You said no more ghost chasing..." I said and Sherlock didn't say anything and gave me another small kiss then walked to the door. I quickly followed.
"Sherlock Holmes if you walk out that door I'm done, do you hear me? Done! I'm done and gone!" I protested as his hand was on the door handle. He didn't even look back at me, but he did stop and think.
"I'll be back as soon as I can." Sherlock said and walked out the door. I broke down in tears and just cried while I walked into the bedroom and packed me a bag as well. I sat and wrote Sherlock a note and then walked into the living area. I placed the note and my wedding ring on the folded-up paper.
I sighed, grabbed my bag, walked to the door. I turned to look at everything I was leaving behind. This was what I needed to do, Sherlock left, so could I. I walked out of the apartment and out of the building unsure of where I was going.
