Chapter 24

jungkook woke up with a knock on their door. he looked around and saw that it was already morning and someone was knocking on their door. he quickly got up not wanting yoongi to wake up. he opened the door and saw Mrs Min standing by the door looking worried. 

"Mrs min?" jungkook said.

"jungkook" yoongi's mom said and her voice broke.

"I got the call from your principal he told me what happened," Mrs. Min said as a sob broke from her throat. She entered the room and looked at his son sleeping.  jungkook stood there looking at the woman with guilty eyes. he should've called her.

"how's my baby koo? Is he okay? is he hurt?" Mrs Min asked looking at jungkook with hopeful eyes.

"he is okay now Mrs Min. Don't worry.  I am sorry I didn't call you earlier." jungkook said. Mrs. Min shook her head.

"Don't apologize son. I know you were taking care of him," she said sniffing. she walked towards her son and kissed his forehead.

"I am sorry I wasn't there for you my yoonie. I tried to come as fast as I could. but I am glad you were not alone." Mrs Min said to her son who was still asleep. she backed away from her son and looked at jungkook who was looking at them silently. she approached him and placed her hand on his shoulder.

"you're a good husband jungkook," she said, leaving jungkook alone with his thoughts. 

Mrs Min's words left jungkook stoned in his place. he didn't believe himself to be good at anything. he was never a good son. he had been a terrible friend to his best friends. he can't even be a good human being. he doesn't know if he is a good husband or not he just knows that he loves yoongi with all his heart and will do anything to make him happy.

he walked toward the bed and lay beside yoongi. he placed the loose strains of yoongi's hair behind his ear. yoongi stirred in his sleep and gradually woke up and looked at jungkook with his sleepy cat-like eyes. yoongi took jungkook's hand and hugged it just like jungkook did on their wedding day. it made jungkook smile.

"What are you smiling at?" yoongi asked pulling jungkook's hand closer to him. jungkook chuckled.

"nothing. you are cute" jungkook said and shifted closer to yoongi. 

"Hmm," yoongi said, contained when jungkook was finally close enough to him. just the mere presence of jungkook near him eased his mind. he shifted closer to him till his head rested on jungkook's chest. jungkook immediately embraced him, his fingers falling into yoongi's soft hair.

"How are you feeling today hyung?" jungkook asked his fingers gently massaging the older's scalp.

"you need to stop asking me that question koo" yoongi said. jungkook stayed silent. he pulled yoongi closer as if he was afraid that he will lose him. They stayed silent, neither of them moved they just stayed there enjoying each other's warmth.

"I am sorry hyung" jungkook said after a minute of silence. yoongi looked up to see jungkook's face but the younger just stared ahead. yoongi noticed a single trail of tears falling from the side of his face.

"bun why are you crying?" yoongi reaches out to cup jungkook's face and wipes his tears.

"I am sorry I was not there to protect you," jungkook said not meeting yoongi's eyes. 

"what are you saying bun? you didn't know something like that would happen. and I am okay now thanks to you. so don't blame yourself please" yoongi said wiping Younger's tears. 

"Are you sure you're okay now?" jungkook pulled yoongi close and asked with glistening eyes. yoongi smiled at his innocent face.

"I am fine bun" yoongi nodded.
