How... Did this happen?
How did I end up here?
You wondered as Levi sat down next to you. It was merely hours ago at this point that you were formally introduced to kuche- you mean Ms Ackerman.
As Levi's mother clung to you the entire time, you couldn't help but feel the awkwardness between the two.
You almost fainted when she suggested a "family dinner" and Levi graciously accepted. You didn't know much about the situation, but you knew enough to know this wasn't a good thing. Levi never said anything positive about his mother the few times he brought her up, but you couldn't help but find it hard to believe.
She was such a kind woman, and looking at her now you would have never expected that she abandoned Levi as he stated before.
It made you wonder why Kenny had to raise him, and why it left Levi so bitter.
"I'm glad you accepted my dinner offer, my son. It's been so long since we could talk with one another." Kuchel began with a tight-lipped smile. She sat across from you and Levi, at this little no name restaurant that Levi sponsored in the past. According to Levi this was the perfect place to talk without being seen or heard from press.
The reason why we had to move with such secrecy, you were afraid to ask.
"Y/n is the only reason I accepted. After all, I could tell she was in some sort of a situation before you showed up.." Levi began before leaning forward, leering angrily towards his mother.
"Or maybe you're the reason she looked so uncomfortable in the first place?" He assumed, which kuchel responded with a laugh.
"I only asked her a few questions after I found out who she was. You have to imagine how shocked I was to run into my son's fiance at a boutique I frequent."
You shifted around uncomfortably and glanced at the menu, looking through the list of alcoholic drinks.
Give me your strongest...The atmosphere became icy, as the two of them grew silent, glaring at each other. It seemed even the waiter was hesitant to disrupt whatever argument they were having in their minds.
"Give me your strongest alcoholic drink you can.." you whispered, receiving a nod from the waiter, who anxiously scribbled down your order.
"I'll bring you two.." he whispered back before rushing off.
You cleared your throat, and Levi twitched in response.
"I'm glad we got to have dinner today Ms Ackerman, not only do I get to meet my mother in law, but now I get the chance to repay you for your kindness earlier."Kuchel smiled and lowered her gaze towards you.
"Oh no dear, I only did it because you seemed so sweet and timid. I expected nothing in return. And please call me kuchel, you're making me feel old. <3" she winked. Levi growled in response, tapping his fingers against the table top.
"If you expected nothing in return then why did you use that credit card I gave you after all these years? You clearly wanted my attention kuchel." Levi hissed as the waiter brought your two drinks.
Kuchel closed her eyes, the smile not leaving her lips as she let out a long sigh.
"Oh my dear child, you still have the alerts set up? I guess you do care for your mom after all." She laughed, opening her eyes again, this time looking down at her menu.
"You gave your mom a credit card? That's sweet..." You began trying to shift the subject to a more happy one then this strange icy aura they were radiating.
