i asked god for you, in a glass of water
and whispered your name to the trees.
in fall i burned bay leaves,
and in winter time:
i wrote letters wishing to meet you,
hoping that you were real.
i burned sigils in your name
arranging crystals
and smudging rosemary on our soon to be bed.
i asked god for you,
when i spoke to the universe on our behalf.
