Train Ride

September 1st

Madison's POV:

I hopped onto the train in anticipation of my fourth year at Hogwarts. I was excited to see what adventure lies ahead this year.

I found Pansy and smiled brightly at her. "Hey! How have you been?"

"I've been good. How are you?"

"I'm good too, where are the boys? Normally they follow you around," I questioned with a laugh.

Pansy smiled, "Draco is off with Lorenzo and Theo. They're conversing about something that is a secret for the time being,"

I drew my eyebrows together. "Weird,"

Pansy nodded, "So how was your summer?" She asked stepping into a cabin and sitting down next to me.

"It was good besides the whole Quidditch World Cup situation."

"What, you don't like the Irish?" She questioned nudging me.

I rolled my eyes, "Of course I do. That's who I wanted to win, I'm talking about the death eaters showing up."

"Wait, were you there?"

I nodded, "I was there with my father, brother, the Weasleys, Hermione, and Harry. Cedric barely got me out of there, we had a death eater on our ass." The scenario flashed through my head.

My father looked between Cedric and me, "You take your sister and you run, you get out of here now! I have to warn Arthur,"

"Dad-"

"Go Madison," He said handing Ced my bag, "Run!"

Ced grabbed my hand and pulled me out of our tent, he looked at me, "Stay calm, I'm here. Just keep your eyes on me and stay with me, okay?"

"Okay,"

My brother and I started running. He took me in the same direction we arrived from. There was a fire in every direction and death eaters everywhere we turned. Cedric stopped dead in his tracks and pulled me into his chest, covering my face. I screamed as a spell nearly missed us. Cedric grabbed his wand and shot a spell back as we continued running again.

"Maddi keep running!" Cedric yelled.

I turned back and he was blocking spells, "Cedric!"

He didn't even look in my direction, "Go!"

I obeyed and ran for the portkey. I was beyond horrified, I made it to the portkey but Cedric was nowhere in sight. I hid and waited for him, I couldn't leave my brother but I was also petrified. 

Honestly, I don't know how I was sorted into Slytherin by how I acted that night. Of course, my brother was fine, thank Merlin. I don't know what I would've done without him. Cedric always took such good care of me throughout my life.

Pansy put her hand on my shoulder, "I'm so sorry, I had no idea. Are you okay?"

I nodded and sighed, "I'm just glad Ced got me out of there. I don't know what I would've done if something had happened to him." Cedric always took such good care of me throughout my life.

Pansy smiled, "Where would you be without him? You two are practically inseparable."

I laughed lightly, "I know, he's my bestie beside you, of course."

"Well of course,"

I adore Pansy, she has been my friend since Year 1. Just like the boys, we have all been together for years. They are truly my best friends with the exception of my brother. We watch out for each other and protect one another no matter what. We've always had each other's backs.

The boys were just on time as they piled into the cabin. I smiled and greeted the 3 boys. "Hey Mads, how's it going?" Theo asked.

"Hey Theo, it's going good, how are you?"

"I'm good, I'm actually glad to be back, I've missed you guys, especially you, Maddi." He said with a playful wink

I laughed lightly "I've missed you too Theo,"

Everyone seemed to light up sitting in this train car with Pansy and me. I was thrilled to have my friends back, my father wouldn't let me see them during the summer. He still doesn't like to believe that I was sorted into Slytherin. It's so obvious that Cedric is his favorite and I think that's why Cedric always paid special attention to me. My father hates Slytherin house and therefore hates my friends, they've attempted to see me but my father forbade it.

"So tell us about this big secret," Pansy said.

The boys glanced at each other. "We really shouldn't," Draco replied.

"Come on, we'll find out eventually," I pushed.

Lorenzo nodded and spoke, "We are getting a new student this year, he's a 4th Year,"

"Why is he just showing up this year?" Pansy asked.

"He wasn't really associated with the public for a while," Draco added.

I shrugged it off, hopefully, another Slytherin for our crew. "Maybe Mads will take a liking to this new guy, it's about time she's found a relationship," Pansy said with a smile.

I rolled my eyes, "Whatever, you know that I need to focus on school,"

"Besides, no guy is good enough for my 'sister'. She's so precious and I will destroy anyone that even looks at her," Theo stated making me smile.

Theo and I always had a special bond. We have never had feelings for each other but he literally is just like my brother and I love him dearly. I mean, he nearly murdered Draco last year when he admitted to having a crush on me. I also shut it down because I didn't see Draco that way, I never have. Same with Enzo, I just always felt sibling relationships with my friends, all of them.

The five of us made small talk about our summers, I looked out the window and took in the scenery. I smiled and sighed, I couldn't wait to be home with my family.

Pansy's POV:

I love Madison to death, she is the perfect match for our group, she holds so much golden retriever energy and it has nothing to do with her dirty blonde hair. The entire group besides Mads and maybe Theo are more like black cats whereas she is the life of the party, she is most definitely the glue of our group.

Mads is the kindest soul ever and these past few years I have been trying desperately to find her a boyfriend that will treat her how she deserves to be treated but it's kind of difficult when your brother sets the bar high. Cedric has taken such good care of Maddi. He is protective, they tell each other everything, he buys her flowers all the time for no reason, and he is the best brother anyone could ask for.

The last thing I want is for Madison to get hurt but I would love to see her happy with someone. She deserves that, she deserves the world.

Who knows, maybe this boy will finally live up to Madison's expectations.
