The New Guy

September 1st

Madison's POV:

The five of us got our robes on and exited the train upon arrival at Hogwarts. Students were instructed to go straight to the great hall, I was curious and waited for Cedric with my friends. I knew Cedric didn't really like my friends but he didn't talk poorly about them, at least in front of me, which I liked. Cedric was just as surprised as I was when I was sorted into Slytherin, I knew it didn't bother him though, he loves me regardless.

"Hey, Maddi," Cedric said with a smile, "How'd you do with the train ride?"

"I did good, how'd you do?"

He shrugged as he walked with my friends and me, "It was fine, I was able to meet up with some of my friends,"

I smiled and nodded, "Well that's good, as you can tell, I did the same,"

"Hey Ced," Pansy greeted.

"Hey," He nodded back. Cedric didn't mind Pansy, it was the boys he wasn't fond of, especially Draco.

"You can get back to your friends, I just wanted to catch you before we get into the castle and say good luck this school year,"

Cedric smiled at me, "You're sweet, thanks little sis, good luck to you too. Especially when we face each other in quidditch."

I laughed, "We'll see, I'll take you down as long as the lightning doesn't get to you first,"

Cedric sarcastically laughed. "You're not funny,"

I shrugged. "Whatever," We approached the great hall and split up to go to our house tables. "See you around,"

"Stay safe, Maddi,"

"You too!" I raised my voice so he could hear me and then sat down between Pansy and Theo and across from Draco and Lorenzo. There was a seat open between Lorenzo and Draco. I drew my eyebrows together, "What's that open seat for?"

"For the new guy," Draco stated.

"What makes you so confident that he'll be a Slytherin?" I questioned.

"Oh, trust me, he will be," Lorenzo said.

I shrugged it off and noticed that some of the Ravenclaw students were sharing a table with us. "The hell?" Theo said after noticing the same as me.

I glanced at the other tables and saw the professors were leaving one table open. "Weird," I stated.

Everything went as normal, the first years got sorted and Slytherin gained two boys and three girls. Then Dumbledore stood up and spoke, "Before we start the feast, I have a few announcements to make first being that we have a new student this year. He is in Year 4 and I expect him to receive a warm welcome from each and every one of you. He was sorted in private and will be joining Slytherin House. Please everyone help me in welcoming Mattheo Riddle." The great hall went silent as we watched him walk over to the table I looked at Draco and Lorenzo and they had smirks on their face. Mattheo smiled at them and sat down between Draco and Lorenzo, right across from me. He had fluffy dark brown hair and piercing brown eyes that you could get lost in.

Dumbledore started speaking again but none of us were listening. I smiled and spoke first. I stuck my hand out to Mattheo, "Hi, I'm Madison Diggory, but you can call me Maddi if you'd like,"

Mattheo looked at me and he faintly smiled and shook my hand, "Mattheo Riddle, it's nice to meet you,"

Mattheo had a strong grip, I looked down and then at Pansy. I nudged her, "This is Pansy Parkinson, she's my best friend. Do you already know the boys?"

Mattheo nodded at Pansy, "I do, I've known these three for years,"

I nodded and my smile never faltered. I looked away only when I heard the doors open. In strutted a group of girls in blue, "Those are beauxbatons girls," Pansy whispered.

I nodded and watched Theo turn to look at me, "They're gorgeous,"

I laughed and rolled my eyes. After the girls took their seats, a group of boys walked in and they were dressed in brown. "Is that Viktor Krum?" Pansy asked and I nodded.

"Durmstrang boys," I replied.

Everything seemed to go on as normal, the feast began and I ate, I had missed the wide variety of food that Hogwarts had to offer. I wasn't paying attention to any of my friends until Pansy tugged at my robe. I looked at her and drew my eyebrows together. She leaned towards me and whispered in my ear, "He can't keep his eyes off you,"

Before I could ask who, I glanced at Mattheo and caught him in the act. I smiled at him and he faintly smiled back before looking away and making conversation with Lorenzo. I kept my eye on Mattheo and found myself smiling to myself as I thought about him.

The feast concluded and all of the students were dismissed. My friends and I found our way to the Slytherin common room. The boys sat in the main area while Pansy and I went to our shared room, we started unpacking and made small talk. "So are you excited to be back?" I asked.

"Yeah, are you?"

I nodded, "Yes, I love being here and getting to hang out with you and the guys,"

"Me too, and speaking of, what do you think of Mattheo?"

I shrugged, "I don't really know him but he seems nice, why? What do you think of him?"

"I think he has a staring problem, especially when it comes to my cute blue-eyed and blonde-haired bestie."

"There's no way,"

"Mads, he was looking at you throughout the entire feast,"

"So what? He's new, he probably was looking behind me,"

Pansy shook her head, "I doubt it, what's not to look at? My best friend has a stunning smile, beautiful hair, mesmerizing eyes, a delicate voice, a rocking body, and a killer personality. What's not to love?"

I laughed, "Says you, you're literally so amazing, I wish I had your looks and personality, you're not scared of anyone or anything."

She shrugged, "I'm training you, you'll get there one day."

"Okay," I smiled.

Pansy and I were unpacked and she went downstairs to talk with the boys, I changed into a black tank top and a pair of green and black checkered shorts. I was lying on my bed journaling my day but I managed to fall asleep even though it wasn't late at all.

Today was a great day and I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
