Was the kiss better than I'd expected it to be? Unimaginably so. It was the perfect kiss. The kind of ones where girls would usually have butterflies fluttering in their stomach and would have them swooning.

The doors crashed open and I heard the footsteps of men barging inside. Anger made my jaw clench as I broke the kiss. I finally confess to the person I've been trying to find my entire life and there's an action sequence? Really? A classic example of rotten luck.

I ignored the wide-eyed, jaw hanging open expression Leah and her friend were giving us. Jeez, don't let your eyeballs fall out lady. Yeah, I kissed him. Deal with it.

I pressed the gun into James' hand. He was right. He needed to protect himself and them too. If someone managed to get past me, he'd need to defend himself. See? I can be reasonable too.

"This is a just in case. Don't show yourselves." I pressed a finger to his lips as soon as he opened his mouth. "I'll be back. Watch and learn. Or well, more like listen."

I walked to the edge of the aisle, peeking from the corner. I couldn't tell how many men had gotten inside since only a couple stood before me, their eyes scanning the room. The footsteps that barged into the room were way more than just a couple.

The only light in the empty library was from their torches. That worked for me. Every time they turned; the rest of the room was obscured in darkness. Once the torch had swept past my hiding place, I leapt, rolling behind one of the reading desks. I sneaked my way to the men that stood in the middle of the room, shining their torch every which way. I noticed a few more torches along my way there, the men searching the aisles.

I sneaked up behind them, snapping one guy's neck with a quick twist. His friend turned, his mouth opening to shout a warning, before I sent my fist flying into his nose and then kneed him in the stomach. I brought my knee up once again, this time smashing into his skull with as much force as I could muster. Both limp bodies thudded to the ground, the sound far more apparent in the silent room.

There was a beat of silence before pounding boots sounded from the nearest aisle. I didn't have a choice. I knelt down, picking up the handgun from the dead guy, bringing it up just as the man emerged from behind a bookshelf.

Bang.

It was a good thing these men weren't armored. If that had been the case, I would definitely not make it out of this alive. And I had a promise to keep.

The bookshelf behind him were now spattered with blood as his body thudded to the ground. I quickly moved to an aisle before more footsteps thudded to the space in front of the room. The room where three bodies now lay.

Why sneak around when you have these fools looking around in surprise? With a quick peek from the corner, I sent three bullets flying, adding three more bodies to the pile.

Gunshots resounded in the air as bullets pierced into the bookshelf, I was taking cover next to. I didn't want to take no risk. These were made of wood. Not exactly the best bullet stopping material.

The gunshots ceased and I heard footsteps move toward my place. I knew that if I were to peek, I'd have at least a bullet or two in my head.

More shots resounded in the air and it took me a second for me to realize that they weren't targeted for me. In fact, they weren't coming from close to where I was.

"Who the fuck is that?" The man closer to me shouted. I turned the corner, sending a bullet into his head. Why the hell did he have his back to me though? I was right here. I noticed the other men had also turned their attention to the other side of the library.
