Wow. That was unexpected. How had I missed that?

We were back in the car now. Jess back in the back seat, me in the middle with James, Stephen at the front. We sped down the road towards the periphery of the city. From there we turned onto the Papago Freeway. That was where Stephen gunned the accelerator, making the car race onward. I gazed outside, looking at the sidelines pass in a blur, my mind far away.

Stephen couldn't possible like me, could he? He never really showed it.

He killed a bunch of men coming to your rescue, he had always been flitting around you when you both were younger. What do you want, fireworks plastered on the sky with a sign? My conscious rebuked. It was getting really irritating off-late, I swear.

In my defense of not knowing, he had been an asshole and in some cases, outright mean. And there had also been cases where if any guy confessed to me, he'd be found lying beat up and head dunked in the toilet. And the guy would forever avoid me after that. I didn't mind, I hadn't liked a lot of guys back then. Though I must agree that was overkill. They didn't need to be beaten up! I always knew Stephen was behind it, but there was nothing I could do about it. In fact, I was also pretty sure he was the reason for a lot of boys I liked to go missing. Soon in school, I was the beauty that was off limits. Whether she has a choice, not many thought. As a result, I had very few friends I could really rely on.

My mind scoured through the various events that had taken place before, trying to connect the dots. There were far too many to connect and come to a satisfiable conclusion. Just then something brushing against my hand made me yelp.

A hand quickly covered my mouth as James's hand brushed once more against my right hand. My racing heart started to slow down.

And then sped right back up. His hand still remained on my mouth, while his other traveled farther up my arm, leaving scorching trails. Desire bloomed inside me. Like a fire, its flames licked through my insides, consuming me. It heated up my body, leaving scorching desperation behind.

I shot a glance back. Jess was asleep. Stephen was looking ahead, but he would look at the rearview mirror anytime. I needed to stop James. But I couldn't bring myself to do it. He was like a drug. A drug that came back to life from the dead just to get me intoxicated.

His right hand moved from my mouth up the side of my face and tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear, before slowly tracing around the edge of my ear. His left hand moved from my arm to my collarbones. It splayed there, the feeling of his hand on my skin exquisite. I arched my neck, giving him more room.

Suddenly, it dipped further down. The touch no longer was light and teasing. It seemed downright deprived. Desiring. Lustful.

It travelled down my tee, grazing the sides of my breasts through the cloth. But it continued down south. And south it went. Down and down. Until it was traveling down my navel, down my hips and down my pubic bone, to my core. He pressed his fingers against me, and a whimper started to leave my mouth just as he clamped on it with his right hand.

I could feel his fingers rubbing and circling through my sweats. Heat poured in between my legs, making me clench my legs tighter, pressing his hands harder against me. I turned to look at him finding his eyes hooded and dark with lust. His eyes flicked to mine as a small smile played on his lips. Then it flicked downward, where his hand was nestled between my thighs and it grew fifty shades darker.

A cough startled us both away from each other. Jess looked mortified as her eyes flitted between us. Blood rushed to my face as I looked out the window, ignoring glare that was boring through the back of my head. James's hand away from left me having withdrawal symptoms. The air in between my thighs felt alien, as if something else should be filling that place, that particular something being quite... definitive. The side of my face where his hand had been just a few moments ago, scorched with heat.
