Everyone was assembled by the deck, slow romantic music was playing the backdrop of a starry night, kavin and purvi stood at the centre, exchanging rings for their engagement, while everyone just applauded in celebration.
"toh ab mujhse ring lekar tumhari maa ne kavin ko dedi, purvi ko pehnane ko?" asked ishita to dushyant with a whisper in his ear, while still keeping a smile on her face and clapping, and dushyant leaned to respond, still keeping a smile and clapping as well.
"khaandani ring hai, daadi ne papa ko di mummy ko pehenane ko, mummy ne mujhe dedi tumhare liye, ab tumne toh courier kardi divorce ke baad...kuch toh karna tha na uska..." responded dushyant, in a whisper as well, attempting to not raise his tone, but it somehow still went out of his control at some points, as his pitch couldn't help but go up at some words.
"tum logon ko bade bete ki divorced biwi ke khaandaan mein chote bete ki shaadi karna embarrassing lagta hai, par literally yeh embarrassing nahi lagta!" rebuked ishita, trying her best to keep her tone low as well, but the pitch was just not in control sometimes when it got up.
"burai kya hai ismein? tumhari behen ko tumhari peheni hui ring mil rahi hai...ab yahi toh honge mr and mrs luthra naye..." replied dushyant snarkily.
"acha, toh agar humari shaadi ho rakhi hoti abhi, toh kya milta isse? aur agar tum bhul gaye ho, yahan baithe sab logon ne mere haath mein yeh ring dekhi hui hai humari engagement ke time! aur unke hisaab se hamari shaadi ho rakhi hai! toh iski kya story pakayi, maine nikalke ring kavin ko dedi, ki jao, le aao nayi mrs luthra!" expressed ishita her disdain, while dushyant took a long sigh before responding.
"kahaani buri nahi hai...filmy thodi zyada hai..." remarked dushyant, making him receive a glare from ishita.
"meri behen ki kya value hai ki tum logon ne usse kisi ki chodi hui ring di hai! that too uski badi behen ki hi? everyone deserves their own fucking ring yaar!" stated ishita, as she turned away from him, and dushyant knew very well now, she was pissed.
"ishita, woh ring kisi ek ke kabhi thi nahi na...woh bas ek tareeka hai har nayi bahu ko pichli generation ka ek ashirvaad dene ka...ki uss ladki ko shaadi se bahaut khushiyan mile, tumhe nahi mili woh toh meri galti thi na, mere bhai toh nahi karega woh galtiyan...toh lene do purvi ko woh best wishes, uske liye sach hojayein..." explained dushyant calmly, without even looking at her, and instead just straight at kavin and purvi, who were happily accepting people's congratulations, while ishita was looking there too, clear remorse in her eyes from hearing her words.
But before she could look up to him to respond, she found that he was no longer there, as he had left already.

The engagement party was at its full swing, champagne and drinks being served to everyone with fancy appetizers to go with, and everyone seemed to be having a blast with the blaring party music in the background.
Mrs luthra stood by the caterer, inspecting everything was fine or not, making sure there was still enough for the guests, when she suddenly felt someone was behind her, making her turn to see who it was.
"arre, sweety tum, kya hua aisi kyun ghoom rahi ho?" asked mrs luthra, as sweety just chortled casually.
"arre bhabhi main bas aapko dhoondh rahi thi, kuch kehna chah rahi thi...." stated sweety, as mrs luthra was all ears.
"haan bolo na kya baat hai?" responded mrs luthra, paying all of her attention her now, while sweety looked around before coming closer to talk to her.
"bhabhi bura mat manna, par mujhe na yeh ladki bilkul theek nahi lag rahi hai..." stated sweety, making mrs luthra raise her brow.
"dekho main abhi engagement gift dene gayi kavin purvi ko, iske na lakshan bilkul iski behen jaise hai, sachi...aur aapne toh dekha hi hai usse, jab dekho dushyant ke saath itni chik-chik karti hai...arre apni behen ki hi sagai mein bhi moh band nahi ho raha tha uska, sunaye jaa rahi thi usse, kabhi khush dekha bhi hai shaadi ke din ke alawa dushyant ko iske saath?" ranted sweety, as mrs luthra looked on awkwardly, only for her sweety to look at her completely perplexed, while she felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to find dushyant standing.
"dushyant..." uttered sweety awkwardly.
"bhuaji aapko itni chinta hai meri, toh kabhi mujhse hi aake bol deti yeh sab..." remarked dushyant, as sweety smiled awkwardly, and mrs luthra looked on in amusement.
"beta main toh bas...." attempted sweety to defend herself.
"nahi bhuaji baat kya haina, ishita ki koi galti nahi hai ki aapko shauk hai jhaank ke maze lene ka jab logon ke ghar mein problems chal rahi hoti hai...apne humein khush kabhi dekha nahi hai kyunki aapse dusron ki khushi dekhi nahi jaati...baaki agli baar meri biwi ke baarein mein bolne se pehle yaad rahna, agli baar main shayad itna shaanti se na baat karo aapse..." stated dushyant bluntly before walking away, leaving sweety to be completely silent.

Ishita, who was chatting with purvi, as they were getting photos clicked together, their mother suddenly joined them, making them all smile towards the camera for a click together.
"toh, kab bataane waali thi humein?" asked their mother excitedly, smiling gleefully, as purvi too turned to ishita.
"haan, haan, woh toh meri bhi sunne mein aaya...kya baat hai di, bade secretive ho rakhe ho aajkal?" nudged purvi teasingly too, while ishita was just perplexed.
"arre, bhai toh bhuaji ko seedha seedha dhamki de rahe the apke khilaaf kuch na bolne ki...being like meri biwi ke baarein mein kuch bola na toh.." informed purvi, as ishita was utterly shocked.
"aur nahi toh kya, humein kya pata tha tum dono ka toh proper patch up hogaya...isliye gaye the bahar saath dopeher ko?" asked her mother.
"arre pata hai aaj subha jab inke kamre mein gaya tha na kavin, dono soye hue the ek dusre ka haath pakde hue...maine toh phir kaha usse, pehli baar tumne koi akal ka kaam kiya hai inhe na uthake!" informed purvi, as she exchanged a chuckle with her mother, while ishita was still thinking about the incident she was informed of at that time.
"main abhi aati hoon..." stated ishita, taking her leave immediately, making purvi and her mother exchanged mischievous looks.
"lagta humne zyaada hi chidda diya..." remarked purvi, as they both chuckled, unbeknownst to them, that ishita was left completely off guard and shocked at hearing about the incident that took place between dushyant and sweety. Clearly, it was a news to her as well, that they might have patched things up.
