The ambiance was joyously festive, with dholkis being played, and all the elder ladies of the family singing traditional wedding time songs, as the bride to be purvi, was getting her mehandi done. She was smiling at the cameras, along with her friends, the attention and love being showered upon her was truly blissful.
Ishita was standing on the corner of the room, her arms crossed as she leaned against the doorframe, a tight lipped smile across her face, witnessing all this from the sidelines.
Her mother ended up arriving with some trays carrying many things at once, as she looked on gloomily at her elder daughter.
"tum bhi lagwalo na mehendi, acha lagega purvi ko..." stated her mother, nudging her to go inside, as ishita chortled, looking down.
"rehne do maa, phir kuch yaad aa jayega joh main bhulna hi chahti hoon..." stated ishita, as her mother looked on in sorrow.
"beta tum khudh hi nikalna nahi chah rahi ho yaadon se...tab hi bhulke bhi kuch bhula nahi pati ho." stated her mother, as she walked inside, leaving ishita silenced, left with nothing to say, unable to disagree.
She looked at purvi giggling at her mehendi, predicting obviously everyone teasing her about kavin's name in it, forcing her to recount her own memories.
Ishita was applying her night cream on her face, looking carefully at her reflection in the mirror while doing so, rubbing properly till no trace of it was left on her skin, she massaged one last time to make sure it was properly put. She then applied the moisturizer over her palms, when her glance fell on the ring on her finger. She smiled upon being reminded of the upcoming big day.
Suddenly, she felt a tap on her window, making her confused, as she couldn't help but walk over to check, only for her to find a hand trying to reach over.
"arre kholo na yaar!" exclaimed a voice too familiar to her, as she opened the window, taking a big relief, when dushyant jumped inside.
"itni raat ko kya kar rahe ho!" exclaimed ishita, as dushyant closed the window shut and turned to her.
"apni girlfriend ko bye kehne aaye tha..." stated dushyant very casually, as ishita was left utterly dumbstruck.
"huh?" uttered ishita the only response she could at hearing him.
"kalse toh tum meri biwi ho jaogi na...so, isliye..." explained dushyant, pulling her close to him, wrapping his arms around her waist to lock her in.
"goodbye girlfriend, it was nice knowing you..." stated dushyant, as ishita couldn't help but chuckle in response.
"goodbye to you too boyfriend, i have to unfortunately leave you, to be with my very boring husband from tomorrow..." replied ishita matching his cheekiness, as he raised his brow.
"acha, itna boring ho main?" questioned dushyant jokingly, as ishita pushed him playfully aside, still chuckling.
"husband boring hi hota hai, tumhari galti nahi hai..." stated ishita turning away, only for him to pull her by her wrist back to him, such that he ended up hugging her from the back.
"na toh main kabhi boring banne waala ho na tumhe kabhi bore hone dunga...pata hai kyun?" asked dushyant rhetorically, grabbing her by the wrist only to twirl her such that she ended up facing him.
"because i'll be the best husband ever, because you deserve just that, wifey-to-be." stated dushyant, as ishita couldn't help but smile at him, only for him to slide his grip from her wrist to her palm.
