CHAPTER 32

Across town

A caramel skinned, Latina woman walked into the almost empty house. It looked like one of those show houses for a new community, with prop furniture and what not. She left the door open and walked straight to the sink in the kitchen. She sat her silver pistol on the granite countertop and used her elbow to turn on the faucet. The females long curls bounced as she washed the blood from her hands in the warm water. When she was done, she turned the water off and reached for the plaid dish towel to dry her hands off.

"Ms Alvarez," one of the three males spoke up as he entered the home behind her. The female turned around and looked over at him.

"I haven't heard from Kojo. I think the Cajun may have..." but before he could finish his sentence, Alvarez picked up her pistol and shot the man in the leg. The man let out a scream in pain and fell over. The two other men backed away from the fallen man. They then looked up at the female as she sat the gun back down. She crossed her arms and looked at the other two, ignoring the one screaming on the floor.

"Yes, I know I shot the messenger, but I do not like my messengers thinking, they either know the information or do not. Now, you two get me a correct status on the Cajun." The men went to walk out, but the woman made a noise like clearing her throat.

"Don't forget Gabriella..." they stopped and turned back around to grab the messenger on the floor before walking out. The silence was short lived when her cell phone rang. Slipping her hand in her skinny jeans, she pulls out her phone and answers it.

"Marina, is it done?" a male asked in Spanish. Marina leaned against the counter and kept her gaze at the wall across from her. A single wooden cross hung from a nail.

"Marina?" the man asked again, more frustrated.

"Why can't my father ask me that question? Why does he get his puppet to speak for him?" she growls.

"Marina, you know that you are not allowed to speak with him nor him to you. Your father is in this mess because of you! He is in jail because of you!" Marina clenched her fists at his words.

"You clean this mess up, or you go down with him. We can not afford to keep catering to your silly games, this is a bu..."

Marina slipped the phone into the sink with the water still running as she walked out.

All she ever wanted was to run the family business and make her father proud. Everything failed greatly and with epic backlash. Her father was in jail. Her devil group gone, either dead or betrayed her. Her mother and brother left when they noticed the money and ship sinking. Marina was practically alone. The other groups and alliances were either dead, or they wanted nothing to do with the failed organization. Marina's world was going down in flames, and the Cajun was the main reason for it. No more sending people after him, it was time for her to step up and take care of things herself. She was a woman with nothing left to lose.

JJ snapped out of his memory by the ice cold water that was running down his body 'crap how long was I in the shower?' he mumbled to himself as he turned the water off and rushed to dry off. He needed to make him and Annie something to eat and he also needed to make a few calls, since now knowing that Marina came close to taking him out, he needed to make sure his daughter would be safe from the Devil.

Once JJ was out of the shower, he just threw on a pair of sweats and walked barefooted into the kitchen. He noticed that Annie was sitting on the couch, playing with Sean the raccoon. JJ leaned up against the wall and just watched them for a few minutes

"Looks like you two are getting along well, and normally Sean doesn't get along with others." JJ smiled as he pushed off of the wall and headed into the kitchen to make them something to eat.
