Chapter 16
JJ walked Nate into the dark and empty warehouse. Nate's hands were bound loosely with rope as he shuffled in front of the Cajun."Looks like we are early." Nate said turning his head a bit to face Johnny.
"Early is good, you get the best fishing spots." JJ smiled at Nate. Nate shook his head and looked forward, taking in his surroundings.
"JJ you better be right about this, I'm putting my life in your hands." Nate grumbled a bit.
"Just trust me Nate." JJ waved at the others as he brought Nate inside. When the two entered, they noticed a man in a suit waiting.
"Oh good, looks like you were telling the truth. I don't know how you did it Cajun, but good job." Kevin watched as Nate and JJ stopped in front of him. JJ walked on the side of Nate and leaned against him, placing his elbow on his shoulder.
"What? You doubted I could survive the bull? You forget us country folk can survive." Nate looked at JJ's elbow and shook his head.
"You thought you were pretty slick Nate, helping that girl and going against the Devils. Did you think Marina would just let you leave and live after all that? You were slick, I give you that." Kevin stepped out into the light.
"O'Neill, should have known it was you. Aren't you on your last mess up? How many backsides did you have to kiss to keep that fancy job?" Nate pulled on his ropes.
"You know, you almost got one over on us Nate. Just one thing, well actually two. The first you got too close to Paige, we knew you wouldn't be too far from her. The second, your war buddy, Rogers. He was your second downfall. The Military has been having tabs on Jamal ever since he was discharged. All I had to do was peek in those files." Kevin continued to ramble on and JJ was getting antsy. The Cajun sighed and stood up straight.
"Mais, are y'all gonna shoot da shit all day?" JJ asked.
Kevin made a face at JJ's comment. "Shoot da shit?" JJ nodded
"Yes, shoot da shit, play around talking." Kevin lifted a brow and looked at Nate.
"Don't look at me, I don't speak cajun-onics" Nathaniel informed Kevin of his lack of knowledge on JJ's slang. JJ's face dropped, and he glared at Nate. This was part of the plan. Get as much info out of Kevin as possible before killing him. JJ had to convince Kevin he was still on his side.
"Look, I brought him in and told him everything. He is with us, if you know what I mean." JJ whispered and looked over at Kevin. He wanted Kevin to admit he had been playing JJ this whole time. Kevin's face curved into a smile.
"Sorry, it is not that easy." Kevin looked at JJ and Nate sideways as four men in suits came out of the dark. Two red dots shown on Nate's and JJ's forehead. JJ crossed his eyes trying to look at the dot.
"Now this is some bull!" JJ looked at Nate just realizing what he said.
"I don't mean you but..." JJ glanced back at Kevin with an angry stare. JJ knew Kevin was playing him from the start, now he was going to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.
Nate shook his head in aggravation.
"JJ, you should've never trusted to take up with the CIA, or O'Neil. They're both two faced." Nate looked at the other suits then to Kevin.
"The CIA are working with the Cartel, and the so said up and coming crime organization. He is managing it I hear? But I'm sure Kevin will find some way to screw this up. It's what he's good at. Got one of his bosses, Mr. Alvarez locked up and now wants to kill everyone else, including you, his informant. Anything to save himself and take down Marina by himself. Marina won't work with the CIA and he knows it. She is very different than her father, isn't she? Another loose end he needs to clean up along with both of us. He uses people and he used you, JJ" Nate laughed.
