CHAPTER 22

Paige shoved Johnny as they rode in the back of a taxi. They were headed to Fred's place and JJ had dozed off for a bit. JJ snorted and sat up, his face had been stuck against the glass, leaving a print against it.

"Sorry, not used to the time change...bad dreams." he wiped a little bit of drool from the side of his face. Nate just stared at him and shook his head.

"Nightmare?" he asked, lifting a brow as he noticed the drool. JJ laughed a little and sat up more. "More like daymare. How much farther to his place anyways?" he asked and looked out of the window at the passing buildings and cars. Of all memories...Of all dreams...Why did it have to be that one? He was already under enough stress and for his brain to bring up Becky, his ex girlfriend, an already touchy subject, was not helping. Paige shrugged a bit.

"I have no clue." she said as she too looked out the window. Nate kept his eyes fixed on the road ahead, always on the watch, always cautious.

After another ten minutes of silence, the car finally parallel parked in front of a building. Fred's bike parked in front of it. Nate hopped out first and looked both ways as he stood waiting for Paige. Paige stepped out and looked up at the building then over to Fred, who was waiting on them with his helmet in hand. The driver got out and Nate followed him to the trunk to get the bags. JJ stepped out and almost tripped, his foot had gotten stuck and he waddled a bit to catch his balance.

"You alright there, mate?" Fred asked, lighting up a cigarette as he waited.

"Yeah, I'm good." he adjusted his purple LSU t-shirt and went to help Nate with the bags. Fred took a long puff and let the smoke out. Paige took out her phone and glanced down to see if she had any missed calls or messages but there was nothing.

"So you have the disk here?" she asked, shoving her phone back into her pocket and looking over at Frederick.

"Yes. Also I'm sure you will need somewhere to stay. I have plenty of room." he smiled and put his cigarette out and saved the rest behind his ear. Nate and JJ came around the side of the car, carrying the bags. Paige paid the driver and then the four entered the building.

Nate walked ahead with Fred, while JJ walked alongside Paige.

"So, What were you dreaming about?" Paige asked JJ, a bit concerned. JJ lifted his head a bit and glanced over at her.

"Oh, it was nothing, just a bad memory." He gave her a warm smile to let her know he was ok. Paige smiled back at him, 'She wasn't going to pry into his personal life' JJ was glad that Paige cared enough to ask him if he was alright. He wasn't used to that, someone caring about him.

Paige knew it was none of her business really, she had just met the man, but he was rather sweet and was helping her.

"Well, if you want to talk about it I'm here." she said, turning her head to watch Fred enter the elevator. Nate stopped a couple feet from it and watched him. JJ and Paige entered the elevator and looked at Nate.

"My apartment is on the top floor." Fred said, stopping the doors from closing as he waited for Nathaniel. Nate hated elevators and huffed a bit before using all his will to slowly walk in. JJ looked at Nate funny.

"You ok, Sha? Why you boo-daying?" he asked.

"Boo-daying?" Fred asked JJ, looking over at him as he pressed the top floor button.

"It's a cajun word for sulking." JJ informed the Brit.

"Oh yes, I forgot. Nate, you don't like elevators..." Paige explained, but Nate shot her a look. She stopped talking and looked at him funny.
