Third Person~

As the car left, a group of guys came out from where they were hiding and entered the empty parking lot. All of them walked towards the mugger who was currently laying limp.

"Who was that?" Delirious asked.

"I don't know." Vanoss answered." But we're gonna find out soon."

"How?" He then asked asked.

"I have my ways." Vanoss started walked away from the mugger." Take him out." He ordered.

A loud bang echoed around the parking lot a few moments later.

The Next Day, Carmen's POV~

It was seven in the morning. Why am I up so early? I'm never up this early. I sighed and hopped out of bed. Well I already knew that once I'm awake, I can't go back to sleep.

Half an hour later I was in the living room, wearing dark jeans and a black long-sleeved top. My hair was in its usual high ponytail. I hate it when my hair is down. It gets in the way but I would never cut it. I don't think I would look too good if my hair was short. I don't even think I would like a girl anymore.

I turned on the TV and left it on the random channel it was on and went into the kitchen to make me some pancakes. That was pretty much all I knew how to make.

"And in other news, a man was shot once in the head and died last night." The news reporter said and the crime scene appeared. I looked away from the pan and to the TV. My eyes widened when I saw the parking lot I was at yesterday. " The man was identified as Carl Steele, a wanted man who has had many counts of robbery." I glared at the reporter when I spotted the smile she was trying to hide.

I felt bad for that man, even if he tried to mug me. I wonder if it was those guys I saw yesterday that did it. They didn't really look like a threat cause of how stupid they looked, but they all looked well built so-

Something then smelt burnt and I looked down to see the pancakes burning.

"Shit." I muttered and took the pancakes off the pan. Then the fire alarm went off.

"Well this day keeps getting better."

Time skip to nighttime~

I was doing absolutely nothing when someone knocked on the door. Hmm, that's weird. The neighbours already introduced themselves and I wasn't really expecting anyone anytime soon. I opened to door, shock written all over my face. It was one of the guys I saw yesterday, the one who wore an owl mask to be specific. I quickly composed myself.

"Yes?" I asked and stared at him, well his mask. He just stood there and stared at me. I think he was, I can't really tell.

He then shook his.

"Oh sorry. Are you Carmen Kalaba?" He asked and I raised my eyebrow. How does he know my name? I don't even know the guy.

"No sorry." I decided not to tell him the truth. With that mask, the truth is one of the last things I want to tell him. I tried to close the door but his hand stopped it.

"Look, I know you're Carmen." He stated. I crossed my arms and he saw that as a sign to continue." You're name's registered to the car."

"And how did you get that information?" I asked and tilted my head in irritation.

"I have my ways."

"Yeah, well you and your ways can go." I tried to close the door but his hand stopped it once more. This guy is pissing me off right now.

"Wait just hear me out." He pleaded. I stared at him, that stupid mask stopping me from seeing what he actually looks like.

Eh might as well. It's not like I'm doing anything.

"Fine."

"Can I come in?" He asked and took a step forward. I stepped in the way before he could go any further.

"No you may not. Whatever you want to say, you can say it out here." Even with the mask on, I felt his eyes burning through mine, glaring at me.

"I saw you beat that mugger up last night." I stiffened and quickly relaxed before he could notice." And we could use your skills in our gang."

I thought about it. Me? In a gang? I didn't really have to think about it. But there was something else I'm curious about.

"Was it you that killed the mugger yesterday?"

"No, it wasn't. We did pass him when we were going to our car." I glared at him, I could tell that wasn't the entire story." So, wanna join?" He asked, changing the subject.

I gave a smile." No." I deadpanned and the smile on my face instantly disappeared. I closed the door before he could do or say anything else.

"You know I'm just gonna keep annoying you everyday until you say yes." He shouted through the door as I was walking away.

"Then I'll make sure I'm not at home." I retorted and walked upstairs to my room. I jumped into bed and laid on my back, staring at the ceiling. Man, my ceiling is so plain and boring.

My mind wandered back to his offer. I knew deep down, I wanted to say yes. But I'm not just gonna throw away my new life for a gang. Throw away my life for a criminal one, again.

I then thought about the guy. An image of him started to play through my mind. Why an owl mask? I thought gangs were meant to look more intimidating. But he did make it up with his body and deep voice. Then I remembered what he said earlier in our conversation:

"I have my ways."

He could pretty much use that sentence in any sort of way he wanted. He seems pretty legit to be in a gang. He didn't even mention which gang he was apart of. That would've helped a lot in my so-called investigation. But it shouldn't be that hard to find a gang full of oddly dressed people.

I went back to thinking about the guy. There was something about him that made me feel two things:

Intrigued and afraid.
