"You invited a ton of drivers." Leonora commented, today was her birthday and I was in charge of planning her surprise party.
I shrugged "I mean half of their girlfriends helped me and they wanted to bring plus ones, wasn't going to say no."
"Well thank you, this means a lot to me." She thanked me as she ran off towards a group of her other friends to greet them.
Once she was away I turned to the dj and asked for the microphone for speeches, it was something we'd always done. On my first seventh birthday she made a speech and since then we'd done it every year.
"Thank you." I told the dj as he passed over the microphone, I looked out at the room and all the people I knew and all the people I didn't.
"Hi everyone, can I get your attention please?" I asked and every face in the room turned towards mine, I underestimated how many people I'd invited.
"Firstly thank you all for coming out tonight to celebrate Leonora, it means a lot. If you know me hi, if you don't my name is Evelyn and I have a little speech for the birthday girl." I explained to which I received many claps back.
I started "Happy birthday leonora, I love you more than life dude you are one of my favourite people on earth. You are the person I can tell everything to and you have been there for me through everything. To have such a friend like you.. I can't even put into words how grateful I am. You are such an amazing person. Right enough with the sappy shit, have a great birthday and let us never forget the times we used to watch Disney princess films until we couldn't move at your house and when we'd escape high school to get ice cream or we'd come to races drunk as hell and pretend that we were adopted siblings, anyway have the best day ever, I love you so much."
Everyone in the room was applauding as I passed the microphone back to the guy behind the booth and got back down towards the crowd of people, sweaty bodies dancing around me.
"You're so so cute." Isa told me as she grabbed me closely and kissed me on the cheek drunkly.
"Oh so are you." I told her laughing a little, Carlos wasn't far behind her as he waved towards me also.
He complimented "Great party Ev."
I'm taking your seat at the end of the season..
"Thanks, please help your selves to some of the snacks, nobody is eating them I will and I don't think Chanel will like that." I told them as they chuckled and went towards the buffet I had organised.
I'd booked out a club in Monaco and had hired a catering company to put food out, alongside a good dj.
I turned to the tapping on my shoulder "Evs um this party is really cool but I need to head out-
I turned to face Pierre "I didn't even know you were coming, how come you're leaving so soon?"
He rolled his eyes "Charles is sick so Kika and I are his designated parents, got to go make sure he isn't dead somewhere you know."
"Oh shit is he alright?" I worried a little.
He shrugged "I don't know, would've assumed he told you to be honest. I think he likes you."
You have no idea.
"Why don't you stay here and enjoy your night I will go check up on him okay? I don't think Kika is ready to leave." I told him as I pointed to her dancing the night away with some of the girls.
He shook his head "Nah nah can't ask you to do that it's your mates birthday."
I shook my head "I don't like parties Pierre, I don't want to be around all the alcohol and the craziness. The minute someone gets drugs out im gone, let me go see him and you watch Kika."
"So you want me watching the party for you?" He wondered as he put his drink down.
I sighed "You seem relatively sober and you know more of these people than I do so yeah, that's exactly what I want."
Leonora had many friends that I didn't know as we had different lifestyles completely in terms of what we did now, and not to mention practically the entire grid was here.
"Okay but if anyone does something dumb and illegal it's not on me." He held his hands up defensively to which I nodded.
I chuckled "I'll take the blame for the casualties yes, just make sure people slow down the drinks and eat something."
"Okay can do." He nodded willingly, I wasn't surprised that he was happy to stay and watch the party because he was a partier, he was always the first one doing shots and being sick.
I grabbed a jacket and put it over my dress, walking out to the car park and climbing into the Porsche, stupid pink Porsche.
It was only eleven pm as Leonora hated going out super late we started the party earlier, in the hopes that everyone would be done and ready to go home by 2.
I knew the exact way to get to Charles' house as I drove past it most days, telling myself to stop looking into the windows and catch a glimpse of him, but despite his illness I really need to talk to him.
I did invite him to the party, I assumed he didn't come because I was going to be there but perhaps he was just too sick.
I walked up to the doorstep of which I was crying on just days ago and knocked the door lightly, "Hello?" I called out as I pushed on the door to realise it was unlocked.
