Chapter 8: Truck chase

The men are now in the trucks, driving on a road, heading for the river. Gilson is with Baker in the lead truck, and they have the nukes with them. Deakins is in the back truck with the others. So far, everything is going to plan. Gilson is riding on the passenger seat with Baker. He's keeping his eyes open for anything out there. Back with the heroes, Terry, Brenda, and the Hale Brothers, they're walking away from the canyon. Then, they spot the trucks driving down the road. They all move down the hill to get closer. Hale points at the front truck.

Hale: The one in front has the nukes. 

Terry: How do you know?

Hale: There's only two men to keep the weight down. (Looks at Tony) Tony, we're gonna go in. (To Terry) Give me your gun again. 

Terry: What are you both gonna do? (Gives it to him) 

Hale: We'll think of something. 

Terry: W-W-wait. Wait. We know where they are. Let's get to a phone and call for help.

Tony: No. We can't wait. If they get to the river, we'll lose them. We can't let them get the nukes somewhere. 

Hale: He's right. You get to the phone, ok?

They both walk down the hill. 

Terry: Then we're going with you.

Hale: (Looks at her) No, you're not.

Terry: You're both gonna need help. 

Hale: Look, lady, we don't have time to argue with you. The nuclear weapons are mine and my brother's responsibility. You're a park ranger. We're military officers. Just go to the phone.

Tony: And besides, you've gotta get Brenda out of here and to safely. 

They both walk down the hill, with everyone watching them. Terry, Sora, and Kairi look at each other, and they all follow them. Sora nods at his friends, and they nod back, knowing what to do. 

Terry: Oh, this is a bad idea. (To Brenda) Brenda, stay with them. 

Brenda nods as Sae holds her hand. The trucks are getting closer as Riley, Tony, Terry, Sora, and Kairi all leap down on the front truck, landing on it. Gilson and Baker look up from hearing the noise. Terry lands by Riley. He looks at her, who looks back at him. 

Terry: Hi. 

Riley: Hi.

Tony leans down, and looks through the window. Baker sees him, and aims at him. Tony lifts his head up as he fires. Baker starts firing up in the ceiling. Everyone moves out of the way. Gilson sees Baker shooting backwards. He moves his arm away.

Gilson: Don't shoot at the nukes, you idiot! 

Both Hale brothers fall backwards, and land on the dust cover. They both grab ahold of it, and hold on as it drags them on the road. Sora and Kairi both grab Gilson as Terry grabs Baker. Sora punches Gilson in the face. He groans, and falls down. The cover comes off, and both brothers fall on the road. They both see the other truck coming. They get back up, and run for it as the truck speeds up, trying to run them down. Kairi grabs Terry, and moves her out of the way as Baker fires again. Riley and Tony are catching up with the truck as the other truck is gaining on them. Terry sees them, and she tosses her gun in the air. Both brothers jump in the air, and Riley catches it. They both land in the back of the truck, as the other truck slams into the back. Both Terry and Kairi scream as they slide backwards, and land on the hood. Sora holds on. 

Tony: Fire!

They both aim for the truck, and shoot at them. They see Kelly and the others ducking, but Deakins doesn't. They see the shots didn't break the glass. 

Tony: Crap. Bulletproof glass!

They both turn around, and see Baker preparing to shoot Terry and Kairi. Sora climbs in, and grabs him. He punches him in the face. He groans. And Riley sticks the gun to his neck. 

Riley: You can get out now. 

Baker: (Still holding the gun to the girls) Looks like we got ourselves a standoff. 

Tony and Riley frown at this. Riley then aims down, and shoots Baker in his leg. He screams as he gets shot. Then Riley starts slamming Baker's face on the wheel.

Riley: No...we...don't!

Tony: And another thing, you're gonna answer for killing that little girl's uncle and aunt last night! So, time to give the devil his due, scumbag! Now get out!

They both shove him out of the truck. Tony watches as he rolls on the road, and lays in the middle. Then, the other truck runs him over. Tony flinches as he sees this. That guy deserved it. At least he knows that Brenda's uncle and aunt are avenged. Tony then finds Gilson knocked out. He leaves him there, and ties him up. Terry and Kairi get in the truck, and Terry drives it.

Riley: Ok, you can come.

Terry looks at him, and chuckles. Tony chuckles at this too. Just then, someone starts shooting at them. 

Tony: Everyone, stay down! 

Everyone keeps their heads down as the shooting keeps going on. But then it stops. Tony looks back, and sees Kelly putting his gun away. He then looks at the nukes. 

Tony: Looks like Deak reminded him that the thermonuclear weapons are back here. And he shouldn't be shooting at them. 

Sora: As long as we have them, they can't shoot at us. 

Riley then finds something on the floor. He picks it up, and he sees what it is. It's a tag, a radiology tag. And it says, "St. Jude's hospital."

Riley: (To Terry) Where's St. Jude's hospital from here? 

Terry: Salt Lake City, I think. 

The truck continues going forward. The other truck gets beside them. Then Kelly starts ramming into them. Tony glares at him as Terry keeps the truck on the road. 

Terry: (Notices something) Shoot!

Riley: What?

Terry: We're losing gas. 

Everyone looks at the gas gauge, and sees it's going to E.

Riley: They must have hit the tank. We need to find someplace to hide these things. 

Kairi: But where?

Terry: I know a place. 

They're driving as fast as they can on the road, then both trucks go on a jump. They both land on the dirt, and keep going. Both brothers look around to find something that can help them as they see the other truck still coming. Then, they spot some gas cans, and a box of flares. They get the same idea, and they crawl to them. The other truck continues ramming into them as they get some tape, and tape a flare to a gas can. They pop the flare, and both look at the other truck.

Tony: Stick this in your gut, and smoke it, Deak!

They both throw the can at them. It lands on the hood, and explodes. The truck doesn't explode, but it catches on fire. It stops. Tony laughs as they see this. They both get in the front. 

Terry: You both learn that in survival school? 

Both: NewJersey. Trenton, New Jersey. 

The truck continues down the road, heading to where Terry knows somewhere. With the rest of the heroes, they're following them on the flying monsters. They saw the whole thing, including Brenda. She saw what happened to the man who shot her uncle and aunt, and she feels glad to see that they've been avenged. Now, they're following them. Now they have the nukes with them, and got the upper hand. 

Here's the eighth chapter of Kingdom Hearts: Broken Arrow.  Looks like the heroes find the trucks, and got one of them. They tossed out Baker, and he becomes roadkill. When I saw that scene, I thought, why didn't they stop for him? Either they couldn't stop for him in time, or they thought he was dead-weight. Gilson is knocked out, and tied up in the truck.
