Kanae excitedly started eating and drinking once the food arrived.
She ordered a few plates of biscuits, cupcakes and a few pots of earl grey tea and assam black tea.
"Eat up! The food won't eat itself you know," Kanae encouraged Dazai to try the tea and cupcakes.
"Aren't you supposed to be more concerned about the mission at hand?" Dazai asked, pouring the black tea into his tea cup.
"The mission can wait, but tea time won't," Kanae replied and took another bite of her cupcake.
Dazai: You do know that Mori san will punish you if you don't finish the mission on time.
Kanae: If he does, I'll just make his brain go anti clockwise! If that's not enough for him, maybe I'll inject mercury to him, it makes him go mad faster.
Dazai: *Sigh* You know that won't work on him.
Kanae: I'm sure it will. Mercury is an excellent substance to make someone mad fast!
Dazai: After tea, where should we go to investigate?
Kanae: I don't know. We should think about how to chase The Shining out of Yokohama. We don't even know if Doctor Sleep is in Yokohama.
Dazai: Checking the alleyways might give us more hints about The Shining. Do you think Stephan King is in Yokohama?
Kanae: No way. He's more likely still in America.
Kanae and Dazai finished the teas, cupcakes and biscuits. They've spent over an hour sitting down having tea. To Dazai, it's something that he never imagined himself doing. His life is just too chaotic and packed that he doesn't have a moment to himself. And even if he has a free moment, it's more likely that he'll spend that time with Odasaku or just spend that time sinking in his mind with endless swirling thoughts.
Kanae paid and left with Dazai. They went to several alleyways in search for clues that might help them uncover The Shining.
They walked along the alleyways silently.
Until Kanae broke the silence "Do you think Odasaku will come to the bar today?" Kanae asked.
"I think he will," Dazai replied.
Suddenly, Dazai and Kanae stopped walking.
"What a nice little date isn't it, youngest Mafia executive in History and Mad Hatter?" A voice rang out, accompanied by the sound of a gun.
"Date? This is no date," Kanae said and turned around to look at the person pointing a gun towards them. She grinned like the Cheshire cat.
"You're that Mad Hatter, I've heard a lot about you. You're known for being mad all the time!" The attacker exclaimed and aimed the gun at Dazai. "I'll finish him off first."
"Go ahead, just beware of the angler fish," Kanae warned the attacker.
The sky and surroundings suddenly turned dark and they seemed to be underwater as there were air bubbles rising up towards the surface. The angler fish was in front of the attacker and opened its mouth.
The attacker started to panic and started running away, or so he thought. To Kanae, he is just running on the same spot.
"Spill the beans, where's The Shining?" Kanae asked.
The attacker didn't answer, he continued running and was out of breath. When he tried to breathe, water went into his nose and he started suffocating.
"Come on, you must know something," Kanae said, trying to make the attacker spill out information about The Shining.
"All I know is that they...have warehouses in Yokohama. Doctor Sleep...also came to Yokohama recently..." The attacker replied and started to faint due to not having enough oxygen.
The sky and streets returned to normal. It was all Kanae's ability to manipulate reality.
The attacker started panting, gasping for air.
"You're mad, you believe it was all real when it's just a hallucination," Kanae said to the attacker, grinning.
"But it is real! I felt it!" The attacker responded.
"You can't even see the difference between reality and illusions. You must be mad, madder than the hatter himself," Kanae grinned like a psychopath.
The attacker ran away after looking at Kanae's grin.
"Was scaring him necessary?" Dazai asked after the attacker was no longer in sight.
Kanae: The attacker will not spill any beans if I don't. At least we now know that Doctor Sleep is in Yokohama.
Dazai: It could also be false information.
Kanae: I'm sure he's here, if not who else is managing the business in Yokohama.
Dazai: That's true, but they could always just hire someone else to do it.
Kanae: It's getting late, do you want to go to that place?
Dazai: Of course.
