"What was today all about?" Luke asked as I walked out of my science class.
I shrugged, biting the inside of my mouth and walking away from him. He grabbed at my shoulders, trailing behind me.
"What was that Calum dude on about?" He wondered, scrunching his eyebrows together.
"Nothing," I murmured, "Honestly."
Luke shrugged, his frown turning into a great smile. I rolled my eyes at him, doing my locker combination and flinging the door open. Luke ducked a little.
"So, guess what," Luke smirked, regaining his balance, "Sarah is having a party."
"And?" I groaned.
"Well we're invited."
I shrugged, "Do I have to go?"
"Well you don't want to seem rude - do you?"
"Honestly? With Sarah? I don't care."
Luke crossed his arms, "That's my girlfriend."
"Right, sorry." I whispered, shutting my locker and leaning back on it.
Luke rolled his eyes a little, pushing himself back into the lockers as well. We stood here in silence for a minute. God, I had never been so mad at Luke. I thought he'd be over Sarah by now - but he wasn't. I wouldn't mind him having a girlfriend if I wasn't paranoid about her disliking me. I haven't even done anything wrong. Luke hadn't even noticed that Sarah disliked me.
"So, will you come?" Luke whispered, looking over at me.
I stared into his blue eyes for a moment, my heart flipping. This was my best friend. Sarah wouldn't ruin this connection Luke and I have.
I nodded, "I guess if you want me there."
Luke grinned, pulling me into a bear hug. I rested my head on his shoulder, breathing in his cologne. I liked the smell of Luke. Luke was safe and my best friend and I could spend a lot of time in his arms.
Someone coughed from behind, causing me to jump a little. Luke let me go, turning his body away and picking up, of course, Sarah.
"What were you two hugging for?" She asked once Luke had let her down.
"She's coming to the party on Saturday," Luke smiled.
"Oh." She murmured, "I don't really remember inviting her, Lukey."
I scoffed, rolling my eyes and looking over at Luke. He smiled loosely at Sarah, holding her back with his arms.
"Well, I'm coming." I smiled.
"Can't wait." Sarah grinned through gritted teeth.
I nodded, turning away from the couple and stomping away. Oh I hated that girl so fucking much. I could possibly rip her head off right now. Did Luke not see what the fuck was going on? Cos I sure as hell did. He was so damn loved up that he couldn't see he was picking his NEW girlfriend over his best friend. I hated this. I needed something to calm me down.
I stopped at the bottom of some stairs, taking a breath and sliding down the wall. I pulled out my phone, tapping at it angrily.
"Fran." He laughed.
"Calum," I hissed, " I need a cigarette."
"Well, well." He chuckled.
"Come on, Calum."
"Where are you?"
I looked around, a big letter 'S' standing out, "The science staircase on the left wing."
The phone went dead, my heart pumping a lot of anger. I slid down the side a little, crouching close to the floor. I hadn't felt this angry in ages. Especially with Luke. We never fought. Gosh, he didn't even think we were fighting. Did he think Sarah and I were gonna become best friends and hang out and do girly stuff together? Big chance of that happening.
I was brought out of my thoughts by Calum's body sliding down next to mine. I smiled at him sweetly. He passed me a packet, allowing me to take a few.
"Let's walk." He whispered, taking my hand and lifting me up off of the floor.
We walked in silence, a cigarette in both of our mouths. I blew the smoke out, watching it twirl around in the wind. This was very relaxing. I wasn't even worried about getting home tonight, I'd rather just walk around.
"So, why did you need one?" Calum asked.
"Huh?"
"Why did you need a cigarette?" Calum chuckled.
I shrugged, "Luke and his fucking girlfriend."
Calum rolled his eyes, taking a drag from his cigarette. I did the same. I was still so angry but this smoking thing really does calm you down.
"He's dating that stupid Sarah girl," I growled, "And she's being such a bitch."
"How so?" Calum asked, holding my shoulder.
I shook my head, "She's having a party this Saturday - Luke basically made me say I'll go. Anyway, he told her that I was going and she just acted so rudely. I could have ripped her eyes out right then."
Calum chuckled, "Calm down tiger."
"No! You don't get it! I haven't even done anything to her."
I shook in frustration, taking quick drags of the cigarette and throwing it on the floor. I took another cigarette out, lighting it and putting in my mouth. Was this what it was like to be a passive smoker?
"Calm down on those," Calum urged, "Don't want to have to be paying for another pack tonight."
I nodded, handing him some cigarettes that were in my hand. He put them in his pocket. I stopped in my tracks for a minute, breathing in the cold air and smoking quickly.
"You seem super angry." Calum spoke.
I nodded, "I feel the urge to kill Sarah."
"Lets get you home."
