SATURDAY - OCTOBER 6TH / SNEAKING OUT

It was 6pm and the family fun night was in full swing. Not only had mum already smashed us at Monopoly but she seemed to be beating dad on the dance mat. I wasn't having any fun. I still no way of getting to the party and for some reason, I was finding it hard to text Luke that I couldn't come. I was in deep shit.

"Yes!" Mum roared, throwing her hands up as she won another dance battle, "Who's next?"

She looked around excitedly, wiggling her finger at each of her children. I smiled uneasily at her as she left her finger on me.

"Frankie?"

I nodded slowly, picking myself up and preparing for the dance. There was no way I was gonna win this. Sure, mum did these dance moves for exercise - she knew them off by heart.

The music started, mum already getting into the groove. She flapped her arms about, earning numerous giggles from Eliza and Kelly. I moved about a little, hitting some of the steps. Mum grinned as her score went up while mine seemed to stay exactly the same. I wasn't feeling this whole thing. Gosh, I just wanted to reassure Luke and go to the party.

The song ended, mum grinning at me as she jumped up rapidly. I clapped a little, taking a seat and turning my phone on. 10 text messages? 7 being from Luke, obviously. 1 being from Sarah, brilliant. And 2 from Calum.

I opened Calum's first; 'you ready to parrrrrttteeeyyy?' and 'well are you? don't leave me hanging fran.'

I chuckled to myself, texting back, 'Can't come. Mum won't let me leave the house. Sorry!'

He didn't hesitate on texting back, my message was quickly read and replied to: 'you have to be kidding me'

'NOPE'

My phone rang violently in my hand, Calum's caller ID popping up. No one had seemed to care or notice that my phone was ringing. I was going to take this opportunity to get the call from Calum.

I slipped out of the front room, walking into the downstairs bathroom and taking a seat on the toilet. Calum mumbled something down the phone before popping up.

"Hey." He sounded pretty chill.

"Yo."

"Never say that."

"Sorry." I mumbled, "What do you want?"

"Well excuse me but you're my ride into this party - you NEED to be there."

"Oh."

He sighed loudly, "I didn't mean it like that. I want you to be there. You're like, my little cupcake."

"Don't turn soppy on me." I chuckled. I could basically see him roll his eyes.

"Right. I'll be around to your house in 10."

"What?" I almost screeched.

"You're gonna sneak out - with me."

He hung up the phone, leaving me a little in shock. I had no way of getting out of this family fun night.

I unlocked the door, trudging towards the family who were now playing an intense game of Cluedo. Mum waved me to my seat, dad patting it as I walked towards them. I smiled lightly, "I actually feel quite sick. Could I go to bed?"

Mums smile appeared and disappeared quickly, her hands closing a little as she retreated into her lap. I bit my lip awkwardly. I hated lying to her. Gosh, I never thought I'd be doing this until I was at least 20. But here I am.
