"Ladder 118, respond. This is Captain Nash. I need a head count."
"Ladder 118 responding. Diaz, Buckley and Brea, we're good, Cap." Eddie says into the radio continuing to move."Castillo and Jackson responding."
"Paulson, Marcus and Riley responding."
"Chimney responding."
"Hen, do you copy? Hen?" No response. "This is Captain Nash for Henrietta Wilson. Do you copy?" The group looked at each other not knowing what to do.
Ally looked at the three. "Is that a friend of yours?"
"Let's keep moving." Eddie sighs turning to carry on walking.----------
After what felt like an eternity in silence the four had finally made it to the 8th floor. The building had shifted so many times since going down then back up the stairs it was hard to position yourself to walk up because of the constant direction changes. The trek had been quiet apart from the creaking noises, they were all worried about Hen she should have been safe with her group and now we've lost all contact. Ally had managed pretty well there were the odd few trips but nothing that needed medical attention, because of the tension she decided to stay quiet as she didn't know who the person was and what they meant to the trio so she didn't want to step on any toes.
"There's this egress on the north stairwell of this floor," Eddie said pointing in that direction.
Ally wasn't all together and was thinking of everything. "What if it's blocked, too? Can't you guys get a ladder into one of the windows?"
"It's too risky. The building shifted too much." Brea states as she moves herself into a better position.Moving down the winding corridor there is a little car with small bottles of alcohol on. "What? It's after 5:00 It's not like it slowed us down." Ally says taking another shot.
"Think we could all do with some of that" Brea huffed out when they started to hear shouting in both directions.
"Is anyone there?" A noise coming from the North shouted
"You guys hear that?" They had all stopped trying to listen to where the yelling was coming from.
"Help! Is anyone there?" Now another coming from the south."Right Buck, Eddie you stay here and get that guy out, ill go south and get the other one" Brea says grabbing some equipment.
"Are you crazy that's too risky" Buck says to the blond walking away.
"Yeah well, you have two people to look after now we have spare hands so I'm gonna use them."
Brea made her way down to the opposite end of the corridor while Eddie and Buck helped the first man. For some reason, Brea was regretting coming alone now because she had a really bad gut feeling that something was about to go wrong. The yelling seemed to get quieter and weaker the further she went which only sent her mind into worst-scenario thoughts. She began putting the doors in shouting out into each room she passed when she finally found the room.
"Hello, LAFD" she yelled inspecting the room to see how she could take herself down.
"Here, here she hit her head and now she's not talking anymore," The man that look too familiar to Brea said.
"It's okay sir, I'm here I'm gonna go down and check her first before getting you." Brea says lowering herself down after she tied herself to a metal bar. "what's your name?"
"Jackson, Jackson Castello" Brea froze in her tracks, what was he doing here? Looking at the woman he barely had any clothes on she could have a good guess. "What's your name?"
"uh...L-Lucy" Brea hummed out continuing to look down lifting a Ski mask to cover half of her face. She checked the woman over and she had a pulse weak but it was there. Brea tied a rope around the unconscious woman and carried her the best she could back up to the door before laying her down.
