After another bombing happened, Angelenos are on edge. The 911 dispatchers have been receiving calls about how someone's last name sounds, their mailman, trucks parked up delivering parcels and just suspicious backpacks. If it was this person's plan to make the entire Los Angeles fear for their lives well then this person has hit the nail on the head. The 118 had just been dispatched to Brookside Elementary School as an unclaimed backpack has been found in the middle of the grounds outside. Pulling up to the scene, the bomb squad was also with them ready to discard the unclaimed backpack. The school alarms were blaring, children and teachers running around trying to get everyone out of the building to safety due to the possible risk they were all currently facing."All right, everyone, as close and as tight to the truck as you can be," Buck yelled getting the kids to squeeze close to the trucks for their protection.
"You guys are doing great. Thank you." I said praising them for how good they have been. "Hey, honey you alright?" I asked the young brunette who tapped my leg.
"What's going to happen? and why are there loads of people in scary suits"
"Well, aren't you curious?" I crouch down to the young girl's level and tell her so brief truth about the situation. I" can't say much but we are just out here to make sure you guys are safe and that nothing unpredicted may happen. I know this doesn't answer your questions properly but I really need you to get close to all your classmates and teachers until we are done ok" The little girl did as she said and squeezed in with her fellow classmates not taking her eyes off me.
"Teacher spotted it out there after recess. Nobody claimed it." Athena said walking over to us pointing at the red backpack.
Buck was confused, after the previous Bombs they had identical looks and a red backpack was not. "Yeah, but it's not a package. I thought this guy sent his bomb through the mail."
"Maybe he changed his M.O." Chim suggested. If that was true this person must have some real problems to target children.
"Or inspired some other crazy," I said, I didn't think this was the same person we were after because of the sudden change. Why go from targeting older people who have good jobs to targeting school children? "If this is a bomb, it's not our guy. Ours is making sure that intended targets get the bombs and this is a step up from an individual attack. We're looking at a guy who is seeking revenge, not trying to blow up children."
"All units be advised, fire in the hole" The head of the squat team announced into the megaphone.
"Alright get down" "Squeeze In guys" Buck and I said at the same time ushering everyone to move further back and to crouch down.
The squat leader held the detonation device in his hand as he started to count down preparing us for possible impact. I hovered over some of the children placing my jacket over their heads for extra protection.
The detonation button was pressed and the backpack exploded into tiny pieces. The blast could have been heard for miles back, so for us being so close it was defiantly enough to burst an eardrum.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Stay back, stay back, stay back." Chim said putting his hands out in front of the children who tried to run past the firetrucks in curiosity of what has just happened.
"Substance appears to be some kind of... greyish paste." The man close up to the action reported back to his team over the radio.
"It's tuna fish." A young girl announced making everyone turn around leaving her space to walk closer to the adults.
"Emily. Was that your lunch?" A teacher in a yellow top asked the young girl.
"Yes."
"Why didn't you say something?" Athena questioned trying not to laugh.
