Recap:
"Do you even know what you're asking?!" Dwight shook his head.
"This has to end, Dwight! And for it to end I need your help. Please!" I begged.
Dwight paced back and forth with his hands on his hips. His jaw clenched as he breathed deeply, contemplating what to do. After a few minutes of him pacing I was sure I could see a trail embedded in the cement.
When Dwight finally stopped he stared deep into my soul. "I'll do it. On one condition."
"Name it."
Poking a finger into my shoulder he whispered, "I get to kill Negan."
...
Was Dwight serious? I didn't mean to sound selfish but I had way more reasons to kill Negan than he did. I needed to kill Negan! Especially after letting my group down the last time.
"You want to kill Negan?" I scoffed, "Get in line pal!"
"I'm serious!" Dwight roughly held onto my shoulders. "You have no idea what he's put me through!"
"What about me, huh? What about Daryl, Rick, and my father?"
Dwight lowered his head and licked his lips, "How is your father?"
"He's safe." I answered vaguely, pushing Dwight off of me.
Dwight forced a small smile. "Come, I'll escort you to the room."
Dwight lead the way to the room Negan and I once shared. The layout of the Sanctuary slowly came back to me as Dwight rounded the last corner towards the vast hallway of doors. As we came upon the door I felt my heart beat quicken.
"Home sweet home." Dwight unlocked the door. The click and familiar creak of the door opening made my stomach twist. My breath hitched in my throat as I walked through the doorway and into the room. Surprisingly nothing had changed since I was last here. What did I expect? Maybe a splash of colour or different lamp shades. I wasn't entirely sure what I expected but change was definitely a part of it. Not a single thing had been displaced. Even the pillows appeared to be in the same exact arrangement I had left them.
"We'll talk soon." Dwight closed the door, locking it before walking away.
Releasing a deep sigh I ran my fingers along the soft comforter before sitting on the edge of the bed. Kicking my boots off I laid back on the bed and stared up at the popcorn ceiling. After everything I had been through in the past twenty-four hours I finally allowed myself to rest.
...
As I woke out of my sleepy state I realized I was not alone. One arm laid under my head acting as a pillow while the other lazily draped over my waist. Being careful not to move too much I peered at my surroundings. I was still in the room Negan and I shared. Pain started in the pit of my stomach as I thought of Daryl. I imagined I was sleeping by his side. The thought made me homesick and made me long to be in his arms but I was on a mission. I had to see this through!
The more conscious I became the more disgusted I felt with myself. It felt as if I were cheating on Daryl by sleeping with the enemy. Doubts started circling my mind as I second guessed my decision. Did I do the right thing?
As if on cue, Negan began to stir.
"Can't sleep?" His deep hoarse voice asked.
Swallowing a lump in my throat I answered, "Something like that."
"Nightmares?"
"Yeah." I sighed.
Negan slowly rolled me over until I was laying on my back. Turning my head towards him his dark eyes roamed my face. "What happened that night?"
