"Gabriel was taken."

The second those words left Morgan's lips the four of us simultaneously swore under our breaths.

Rick raked his fingers through his hair, "Did they take anyone else?"

"Not as far as we know." Daryl shrugged.

Carl began groaning as he clutched his side, putting most of his weight on me. Almost causing me to fall over.

"What's wrong?" Rick immediately aided his son to the ground.

"Just bruised ribs." Carl sucked in a breath as his eye squeezed shut. "It's nothing I can't handle."

"Nothing you can't handle? You seem to be doing worse than when you rescued me." I eyed him curiously.

"Don't worry about me. You're the one who survived a grenade explosion that blasted you off a balcony twenty some feet in the air!"

"Don't point the spotlight in my direction. I'm doing just fine." I lied, holding back a groan that wanted to escape my lips.

Carl chuckled lightly which then turned into a coughing fit. Michonne and Rick knelt next to Carl with worried expressions. I didn't blame them. Bruised ribs usually didn't cause this much trouble. Was there more to Carls injury than what he led on?

Once his coughing fit stopped he cleared his throat, "You are a bad liar. I hope you know that."

"I'll do well to remember that." I cracked a small smile.

"We oughta get out of here." Daryl spoke up. "Catch up to the groups."

Rick nodded as he and Michonne helped Carl stand up. With Daryl in the lead we all began trudging our way through the sewer tunnels towards Hilltop. My ribs felt like they were on fire as each movement began to make the pain worse. Not to mention my leg felt like it could buckle at any second! So much for the second wind and adrenaline rush. If I had been the only one injured I'm sure they would've left me behind. But since Carl was now also injured it slowed Rick and Michonne down.

"How are you, Ruby?" Morgan asked.

"Upright and still breathing." I sarcastically answered.

Morgan shook his head—a small smile daring to appear, "Still got that sense of humour of yours intact. That's good."

"It's all I got right now." I said lowly.
