The old man sighed, looking at the rain falling like it was mourning the loss of someone dear,
He sighed again, gazing at the blurring rain and thinking how it was September yet neither the clouds stopped mourning nor did his son.
He sighed once again, turning around, his shoulders sagging tiredly as he walked back weakly to the sofa, feeling a lot older than his actual age.
Sitting down, he unconsciously sighed again as he turned on the TV, blankly staring at the lighting up screen.
It reminded him of the bright days when they were all a happy family.
Mam was still alive and all Tay cared about was getting a little extra time to play with Singto, their previous neighbor's son, before coming back home.
Unwillingly he recalled from where it all went down,
It was not his beloved wife's death but the cursed time when his son met that curses of a boy named Joss and fell madly in love,
He remembered the first time when Tay brought him home, they were in their junior year,
He was disciplined, humble and kind,
Luang thought that they were a perfect match for each other, so he gave them his blessings because all he wanted for his son was to be happy with the one he loved and always thrive in his life.
The rustling of someone walking into the room snapped him out of his reverie as he turned his face in the said direction and came into view his son in law,
"Where are you going, son?"
The soft voices of the TV filled the atmosphere as New replied, while momentarily stopping and turning to him,
"I'm going to find him," His voice unusually echoed in the house on a huskier note, "The rain's only getting stronger and nightfall is near too."
As if on cue, a strong pang of guilt and sadness punched his heart,
"Even if we can't go outside, it's a Sunday, take a break New, you more than deserve it. I'll go and find him," He just placed his hand on the armrest of the sofa when,
"You just took your medicine, dad. I suggest you stay back and rest, I'll find him and somehow get him to come home."
"But—"
"I'll do it, dad."
Although New's eyes were glossy, he gave a convincing enough curl to his lips as Luang sealed his lips, observing the man in front of him, the pensive yet determined face of his, as his old heart broke a little more,
He wished so much in this moment that it was New whom his son would have met instead of Joss.
He also wished in this moment that New was his son instead of Tay, so that he wouldn't have to worry too much and could die peacefully in his sleep.
Tears filled in his faded brown eyes then,
"How are you still doing this, my son? How are you not tired of this at all? Why are you still here? You deserve so much better than this."
Luang released long breath before bowing his head in shameful defeat, his shoulder's sagging even more making him look like he just wanted to go to eternal sleep,
The man sighed out every breath he heaved in, almost on the verge of breaking down as New walked up to him, kneeling on one knee and placing his hands on his knees,
"Dad, don't you worry," New said, hope still shining in his ever glossy eyes,
"The lost shall find their way back home one day."
