"But Gun what happened then, I don't remember."

New asked, his tone shyly playful as he talked to his best friend of almost thirty years now, while riding the bus back home,

"Mueang, it's been six years to that and I have repeated that story numerous times to you yet you bring it up every now and again and have the audacity to not remember what happened?"

"I was sleeping then for your information,"

Gun let out a mixture of a scoff and snort then,

"Ueh, I remember you were sleeping like a baby with your cheeks all puffed up and lips puckered. Honestly, I never felt a stronger urge to poke your cheeks before."

New giggled, looking down as if Gun was sitting right in front of him, "So what really happened?"

Gun playfully grunted, "You aren't going to take that hint, are you?"

"No~"

Gun let out a cute huff over the phone as he started narrating for the nth time,

"Me and Papii came to visit you the next morning as well and when I say me and Papii were left shocked to see you both tangled up in the hospital bed, I mean it.

"Like how the hell do you expect us to even think, let alone believe, about your life long love finally looking at you, let alone him having feelings for you?!

"Then I went to wake you up and out of nowhere your man catches my wrist and pokes up his head with his blood shot red eyes drilling in our skulls as he deadpans,"

He heard Gun clear his throat before mimicking,

"'Who are you?' And then Papii, obviously knowing I am your childhood best friend grabbed at his wrist telling— no, growling at your husband to let go of me before he actually does as I then literally became the referee between two grown ass adults and sorted it out, kinda?"

Gun's comic timing made New chuckle big once again as the man went on, this time more enthusiastically,

"Then I tried to gently wake you up, 'New, New, wake up, I have brought breakfast for you,' but guess who woke up when his husband turned to do it?!"

New shook his head laughing by now as Gun fiercely rambled over the phone, his tone carrying layers of emotions like fun, teasing and fake offense,

"As your childhood best friend, you do not know the betrayal I felt in that moment when you chose your love over your friend."

"Technically he's my friend too you know." New playfully put as Gun exaggeratedly fumed even more, "I am your first friend— You know what—"

"Okay, okay, okay, I'll stop teasing you."

Gun breathed out as he then said exasperatedly, "And people have an enemies to lovers build up story but no, our men are one step ahead of the whole world, they had an enemies to best friends thingy like I still cannot believe your husband has become a part of our group like we all have been best friends since forever."

"I will give that credit to me though,"

He saw the bus arriving at his stop, "Hold on, Gun." He quickly got up and then descended down from the bus, deflating a little when he looked back and saw that Tay wasn't here,

He started down the pavement as he continued, "Ueh, by the way, you didn't tell me the reason of not attending the birthday party I will be throwing over at my house."
