A few weeks later
Harry wakes up in the middle of the night when the baby kicks him right in the bladder. He groans and rolls off the bed, shuffling to the washroom.
He washes his hands with strawberry scented soap and smiles at the smell. Strawberries are delicious. He sighs. Great, now he's craving strawberries.
He hates his pregnancy cravings. They happen differently for everyone, and Harry's usually come fast, intense, and with no warning. And if he doesn't eat whatever he's craving within a few hours, he'll probably have a whole breakdown.
So he leaves the washroom and goes downstairs to the kitchen, pouting when he doesn't find any strawberries in the fridge. He has two options now. He can either go back to bed and try to ignore his now intense need for the fruit, or he could drive to the store in the middle of the night and buy some strawberries.
He stands there for a moment, contemplating. Eventually he decides that he's not capable of living without strawberries for anything more than an hour longer, so he goes back upstairs to pull on some joggers and a t-shirt. He considers waking Louis up, but decides against it. There's no point, and Louis might just get angry at him for disturbing his sleep for something as silly as a craving.
Harry gets in the car and drives to the store carefully. He's practically the only one there, considering it's two in the morning, but he finds strawberries in the produce section and buys them as fast as he can.
Back in his car, he opens the carton and pops one into his mouth, sighing happily as the sweet taste hits his tongue. He eats a few before he starts to drive home, eating more strawberries on the way.
As he's pulling back into their driveway though, he pauses, seeing a dark figure sitting outside on the front porch. He parks the car and watches the person for a moment, trying to figure out who they are.
It's then that the figure flicks on a lighter, illuminating his face somewhat.
It's Louis.
Harry's eyes widen and he gets out of the car, watching Louis bring the lighter to the cigarette in his mouth. He closes his eyes and breathes in deeply, then exhales, blowing a puff of smoke out through his lips and nostrils.
"Lou?" Harry calls, approaching him slowly.
Louis glances up, noticing him for the first time. His blue eyes widen and he quickly pulls the cigarette from between his teeth.
"Harry? What are you doing out here?"
Harry goes to stand in front of him. "I went to the store to get strawberries. I was craving them."
"I didn't even notice you were gone," Louis mumbles, more to himself than to Harry.
"Why are you out here?" Harry turns the question on Louis. He sits down beside him.
Louis sighs and takes another drag of his cigarette. "Couldn't sleep," he mumbles.
"Did you have another nightmare?" Harry asks, ignoring the smoking thing for now. It seems Louis's been getting nightmares a lot recently, although he does his best to hide them from Harry.
Louis shrugs. "Dunno. Just woke up."
Harry sighs, resting a hand on his belly. Louis shakes his head and has a few more puffs from his cigarette.
