- There is the kitchen, on your left is the living room. Erm... you can find your room and the bathroom upstairs.
Snape had a weird feeling about this. He wasn't sure if this was the best idea Albus Dumbledore ever had.
- Thank you... - Mila said as she started to go upstairs. She was a bit nervous about the new enviroment. Snape's house was dark in a way, but she could see that there could be light. The little Potter found the room that was hers from now on. She sat down on the edge of the bed. Looking around she saw a tall bookshelf. Mila was curious, so she walked up to it and picked a few books.
The History of Magic - B. Bagshott.
Fantastic Beasts and where to find them - Newt Scamander.
Magical Drafts and Potions - Arsenius Jiggle
Hogwarts: A history.
As she read the titles and looked at the books she found herself reading about Hogwarts, how the four big wizard created the castle about a thousand years ago.
The owl flew into the living room and dropped the envelope on Severus's head. The professor quickly caught it and opened it up.
Two piece of paper fall on the floor.
"Mr. Severus Snape!
From now on, you are the legal guardian of Evelynn Grace Prince.
Signed by:
Cornelius Fudge, Minister of Magic
Mafalda Hopkirk,
Head of: Improper use of Magic Office"
The second only had a few words on it.
"Be careful and remember your promise.
A. P. W. B. Dumbledore"
Severus sight as he threw the second letter in the fireplace. The other one got placed in his robe. He went to the kitchen and with a flick of his wand he float the dinner on the table.
-Ms. Potter! - he shouted upstairs. There was no answer. He tried again just to hear nothing. Snape walked up to see the girl sitting in the corner of the room, reading. He knocked.
Emilla looked up. In the door there was the professor looking at her.
-
What are you reading? - he asked. He stepped closer and sat on the bed.
- Hogwarts: A History. I just looked around and saw the shelf and I thougth I read some... - she didn't know what to say. From now on she lived here but she felt something weird. She was alone in a way.
- Thats good - the professor said - I like to read myself, but I guess you already know that - he gestured to the books.
She nodded, and gave him a smile. That smile was a little bit like James Potter's. But even with that smile, she looked like Lily a lot.
- Come on! Theres dinner downstairs. And we have to talk about a few things.
Neither of them broke the silence as they ate. He had no idea what to start with. This little Potter didn't look uncomfortable. She had looked around curiously, as if she was scanning the whole room to remember it forever. Then it hit him... She will remember forever... The professor felt sorry for her. He had a lot of memories he would like to forget...
- What is that plant over there? - Mila asked suddenly, pointing at a flower in the kitchen window. Severus turned around to point at the flower to be sure which one she's talking about.
- This is Asphodelus. Some potions use it's partly. Like roots, flowers and leafs. Why do you ask?
- Mom and dad had a hard time getting it's leafs. I remember we couldn't go out. Mom was always reading books and writing notes. Then one time Dumbledore had lunch with us and gave the leafs to dad.
- ... why did they need it? - Snape murmured for himself.
- For the Fidelio spell - Mila answered fastly. She looked down at her plate. Her eyes had somekind of a fear in them. Severus thought about her answer, then tried to lightly turn the topic to something else.
- You remember a lot - he said. The girl nodded silently. - What kind of magic do you remember other then that spell?
Mila looked up and thought.
- There was Polyjuice potion, mom used it a few times when someone needed to go out. And obviously there are the cleaning charms - she started to be energetic, Snape smiled slightly - those were usual. When dad played with me or Harry made colorful smoke rings! - she said with a bright smile.
- That sound interesting. And what do you know about Hogwarts? - he asked. He started to feel happy, just like when he first went to hogwarts. This girl had him smiling.
- I remembered the four houses, but I just read about them, so I know more now. I remember dad telling me stories about some quidditch matches he won or lost. Mom told me about McGonagall and professor Lumpsluck - Emilla grinned - Once McGonagall wanted to give her detention but professor Lumpluck helped her out, so she had to go to a party instead. She wasn't really happy to go - she laughed - she always found a way to avoid those parties. She wanted to get detention to avoid the party in the first place.
Mila was herself for the first time in years. This time she could talk about anything, and she was more alive then ever before. She was laughing, smiling grinning. Snape felt warmness by her talk.
They continued to eat. After a few minutes the professor started to talk.
- Emilla. I need you to know and understand something.
Mila was looking at him. He pulled out the letter, which was sent by Ms Hopkirk from the ministry.
- From today, as we agreed I am your legal guardian. And as Dumbledore professor wanted, your name is changed - Snape said. The little Potter was listening carefully.
- What's my name? - she asked. Severus looked at her and answered.
- Evelynn Grace Prince.
