-...I just can't - she raged about it - Can't understand! How can somebody be this annoyingly calm and bo...ring - a yawn interrupted the girl.
- Nobody knows - Katie answered. The were outside, the rain stopped and they found an already dried spot. - Almost every student sleeps through his lessons. My dad told me when I was little. - she smiled brightly.
- My dad told me about Binns too... but... he was one of the remaining students. He was awake on all of his classes - Evelynn said kind of embarrassed. Then it hit her - Oh, my God! What will he say, if he hears, I slept through the first lesson! He's gonna kill meee... - she pulled up her knees on the bench and jokingly started swinging. Katie laughed and she started to laugh with her.
- By the way, do you want to study together? - the young Gryffindor asked - I can study better if I'm not alone.
- Sure thing! - Lynn said - I'd love to. I tried to convince Jess to study with me, but Emma and her are always into something else... - she shook her head. - ... like, yesterday she said it's only the firs day, we don't need to learn that hard already. And today is "just the second day, you can calm down!" - she sighed. - I don't want to be a know-it-all!
- Calm down! I would like to be the one in the house to get 15 points on the second day of my time at Hogwarts! - Katie encouraged her - To be honest, MyGonagall told the class, that you transfigured the match perfectly... could you help me practice it? - she asked. Evelynn was surprised by the question but was happy about it. She liked to learn with someone else more than alone. It was way more useful and usually funny.
Few days went by and Evelynn was always learning with Katie. They did homeworks together and talked about lessons without the other. Lynn told everything about Herbology class and because of that Katie got ten points on her first Herbology lesson. Evelynn got heads-up of transfiguration, cause the Gryffindor's were one lesson in front of them. Nothing interesting happened in the next two days. Mrs. Norris started to constantly follow Evelynn, but she didn't know why. Jess and Emma got detention homework from Flitwick after they didn't do their homework assignment. Fred and George got detention from the DADA teacher, because they fed a salamander Filibuster fireworks. It ended in a disaster. Lets say, Amelia wasn't happy to lose her right eyebrow. Peeves found this so funny, he shouted the whole story flying around in the castle. Their first DADA was not a big deal. The professor asked them to write an essay about poltergeists, which wasn't a hard task considering the fact that Peeves were in the school.
On thursday as Evelynn walked up to eat breakfast she found Katie waiting for her next to the door of the Great Hall.
- Heyy! - the girl sounded excited - I just want to say, I am really nervous, I'll have potions today, I will tell you everything at lunch!
She gabbled the whole sentece with one breath and then she disapeared. It felt like she apparated. Lynn chuckled. She was looking forward to that lunch. And to the potion lesson she will have on the afternoon. She sat down to eat some breakfast before transfiguration. Just as she took a bite from her scrambled eggs two of her roommates sat down with opened books in their hand taking notes.
- What did you say? - Emma sat next to her not looking up from the paper.
- That the transfiguration of an object to an animal is harder then to transfigure an animal into an object - Jessica ran through the page in front of her - Because... erm... cause... I don't know! This makes no sense - she close the book and started to eat.
- I have no idea what will we get from McGonagall... - she said it in a dark tone. Then realised Evelynn is sitting right next to her. She looked at her surprised - Morning! Sorry, I didn't see you there!
- No problem! How's the last workday of our first week for you two? - she asked it with a bit of sharpness in her tone. Only one of the girls realise it.
- Horribly! Why do we get so much work to do! - Jessica raged about it - This is not normal! What? - she shouted at Grace and Via across from her.
- She was pointing out, that we are a little lost... - Emma pointed out the obvious. The blonde now felt uneasy.
- I thought Hufflepuff is for kind students - she looked at Evelynn - I'm questioning the Hat's decision about you.
- And I thought it's perfect for the hardworking ones - Lynn smiled at her. She didn't say the second sentence, but it was pretty easy to understand what did she mean to say. Jessica turned to Emma and didn't say a word to Evelynn after this.
Few minutes later all three of them was in the transfiguration classroom. McGonagall wasn't there yet, so the two kind and not too hardworking Hufflepuffs pulled out their "done" assignments and started to write a new paragraph in it. Slytherins made their way to their desks and sat down talking. A cat jumped up on the McGonagall's desk and meowed. Then it hit her. That cat was in the classroom last time, when she was practicing Wingardium Leviosa! That cat is the professor!
She immediately pulled out her homework of object from object transfiguration a put it on McGonagall's desk, next to the professor. She had the feeling she should pet that cat... she is a cat-person. And it felt so bad to walk back to her chair without petting the cat-shaped professor. Flora looked at her and whispered something to Amelie's ear. Then they giggled. She looked at them confused. After a bit of giggling Flora put on a serious face.
- Why did you put out your homework already? - she was fighting her smile back. - The professor isn't here yet, and we know what a know-it-all you want to be but this is a bit too much.
Some of the class laughed at her. Sadly not just Slytherins. After the last transfiguration lesson she was in the library. A few of the slytherins told her to stop to be so annoying. She didn't understand. Yes, she was learning but they could have been doing the same thing! Then she wouldn't be the "teachers favourite" as they called her. She turned to them.
- The professor is sitting at her desk, listening to everything. - she pointed at the cat. The cat almost looked surprised. Amelie laughed at her. Michael Corner was looking at her with a questioning glare. Flora and Miles were joking about Lynn Amelie and three other slytherins were laughing crazily.
- Why would you say something like that? - Jessica whispered - You totally embarassed yourself...
Evelynn just smiled at her and shook her head. She pointed at the cat, which jumped in the way of Flora's desk. In front of the slytherin girl know stood the transfiguration professor. Emma' jaw dropped. Jessie's eyes were two times bigger then usuall. Minerva McGonagall looked at Amelie and Flora.
- Miss Carrow, would you like to collect everybody's homework? - she asked her. From the sound of this line she knew she never even had a choice.
The professor continued.
- Now that everyone is listening, Mr. Corner, please put a match in front of everyone - she looked at the boy, then back to the class - today you all going to practice, since last time only two student transfigured the match into a needle - she was talking about Evelynn and Miles, a slytherin boy, who accomplished the task on the end of the lesson. He already put his hand up. The professor turned to him - Yes, Mr. Betchley?
- What will we do? - he asked as if they were so much better. He acted a bit egoistic.
- Practice Mr. Bletchley.
The answer didn't satisfy the boy, it was easy to tell, he was wearing his opinion on his face. They got their matches and started to practice. On her second try the match turned into a needle. Miles weren't even trying. Evelynn put her hand up.
- Yes, Miss Prince?
- I'm done. Can I get another match? - she asked. The professor took the needle to take closer look, than gave it back to her.
- Your task is to turn it back to a match - the professor said.
- But how is that working, professor? - Michael asked from behind Evelynn. The professor smiled.
- If you did your homework, you should know.
Evelynn smiled. She started to concentrate. If the books are right... she thought it should be easier to untrasfigure it... she quickly listed everything she needed to know about untransfiguring the match-needle. She calmed down and when she saw in the professor's eyes, that she wants to say something she said: Think less. McGonagall nodded with a smile, then walked away, towards other students. Evelynn tried it a few times, always thinking less, and the magical fifth was the winner.
- Help, how should I turn my match to a needle? - Jess asked looking down at the table, looking at the match. She looked confused - I thought you already changed it to a needle...
- Yeah, I changed it back. Try to... feel the concetration everywhere instead of concetrating just in your mind - she said and pointed at the match. It turned into a needle. Jessie looked back at her match and took a big breath. She pointed at her match.
- Think less - Evelynn said. And with that, the match turned to a needle.

- I am officially a genious! - Jess was way too proud to herself outside of class. - I will be the next Minister for Magic, I am the best of...
- And if you are the Minister for Magic, then whose Evelynn? - Emma crashed her new self-confidence. Jess looked at her. She didn't say a word. Evelynn cracked up, which led to all three of them to laugh. They sat down to have lunch while still laughing and joking around. Katie ran to the table.
- Hey, Katie! What's up? How was potions? - Evelynn asked before looking at her - Oh, gosh! Are you okay? - she quickly turned to her, when she saw the pale look of the girl.
- He is scary. I mean... - she almost whispered - I mean he is this big, and terrifying thing, but he really knows potions. It's good that he is teaching it, but why can't he be a bit more... a bit less... less scary? - she tried to explain but she was way to shocked. Evelynn was really surprised.
- Is he really that bad? - she was confused. The Severus Snape she knew always told her that he will be completely the opposite of the character she knew, but she did not think this complete 180° change. Was she going to think he is scary? She started to feel nervous about the class she was excitedly waiting for the whole week...
