Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Soon after January, February waved it's goodbyes too to Hogwarts and it's students. All the professors gave enormous amount of homeworks. The tasks got harder and harder each lesson. On Defence Againts the Dark Arts professor Beck gave out their recent homework graded. The essay was about trolls and warlocks. Evelynn, Suzy and Rachel got plus housepoints for their works. Jessica and Emma looked at them with anger. Rachel just wanted to punch her but the other two didn't let her. The only times she was Emilla, she was always duelling with Snape. After the christmas break her father really started to use more non-verbal spells. It was way harder then before. She even tried to do some spells without saying them, but somehow she couldn't. Snape told her to wait a bit more.
- First practice to use these spells with saying them out loud - he sat down one time as they talked about the topic - When you can easily use them againts non-verbal spells both to defence or to attack, then we can talk about non-verbal duelling.
Mila wasn't happy to hear this, but she had to agree with the man. She only new a bunch of easy spells. She had to learn a lot more usable spells, then learn to use them. And only then she can try to cast them without talking.
As Evelynn she was really a know-it-all. She was quiet annoying for a lot of students on her year. But she didn't care, because she had two other know-it-alls with her and she wasn't alone. Sometimes Suzy came to learn with them, but she mostly was practicing alone. She could concentrate easier alone with her books. But the Ravenclaw walked with them a lot of times. They played gobstones, even played hopscotch and jump-rope. Three of them knew muggle games and Rachel was happy to learn. On the fourth Saturday of March the students from third year and above got to go to Hogsmeade. The four girl went out to the castle grounds again to play, or to practice. Most likely to do both. As they were jump-roping a professor came out with Sprout. the professor was quiet short with short brown hair. His head had a bald spot already. He wore rounded glasses around his grey eyes. Sprout and the man looked the four of them play and the Herbology professor shouted to them.
- Good morning, students!
- Good morning, professor Sprout! 27...28...29...- Suzy and Rae greeted them back, still counting the jumps from the other two.
- Good... 30.... Morning... 33....
- Yes... That... 35...
Evelynn and Katie tried to say something while still jumping. The two professor laughed, then they walked towards the gates to get to Hogsmeade.
As they were closer to fifty the rope snapped. The two jumping fell on the ground and three boys were laughing out loud on the other side of the courtyard. Evelynn slowly stood up and helped Katie. Then pulled out her wand and pointed at two of the boys.
- Back of Weasleys! - she shouted at them - Don't try me or I'll curse you!
- Isn't she adorable as she tries to be scary, is she Fred? - the left red-head walked closer then looked back at his twin.
- To be honest, yes she is! - Fred jumped next to his brother. - I would like to see her try to curse us.
- Oh my Gosh! I don't have my camera down here! - Lee approached them. He was gesturing way too much. He put his hand on his hips and shook his head. - I won't have the proof of you two getting your butts kicked by Lynnie!
All the boys laughed, Rachel and Katie snorted a bit. But when Fred looked at Evelynn and into her eyes his smile faded. Her eyes glowed with something strange in them. She had a tiny, almost invisible smirk on the right corner of her lips.
- I have only one question - she said on a low tone - Will you let me to curse you? And if somebody asks later will you tell them you let me to do so?
She wasn't whispering. It was quiet but strong. Slow but it had an impact on the group. George's look was almost terrified. Lee on the other hand loudly answered.
- Do it!
With this line the twins got braver again and chanted together with Lee.
- Do it! Do it! Do it!
Evelynn's smile wasn't promising anything good. She held up her wand and quickly shocked them with spells in a row.
- Expelliarmus! Petrificus Totalus! Flippendo! Tarantallegra! Rictum Sempra!
After the line Evelynn had three wands in her left hand, George was tap-dancing, Fred was petrified on the ground and Lee was squeeking from the tickling-hex. Katie and Rachel were almost crying while laughing intensely. Evelynn used finite incantatem on Lee and George and murmured Locomotor mortis. The boys got up and got back their wands while they laughed in surprise. Fred was the first to ask.
- How did you do that? - he was still smiling while he rubbed his shoulder where the statue behind him hit it. George sat down panthing from the dance before.
- Yeah! Where did you learn that?
Evelynn looked at them then smiled.
- Who knows? Maybe from a book, maybe from somewhere else - she said.
- Okay, but... HOW? - Fred asked again. Lee nodded.
- Hufflepuff, Gryffindor - she pointed at herself then at the boys with her wand. Then back at her - Hardworking - back to the boys - couragious and stupid because they want to look brave. - She gave them an evilish smile. Then hugged Katie from the side - Exceptions makes the rule true!
- YESS! Accept your defeat! - Katie jumped as she heard the last sentece then dramatically pointed at the boys. The boys shouted white flag as a response to her demonic voice while Suzy and Evelynn were laughing hysterically. All of them walked into the castle to have lunch and they agreed to play gobstones together in the afternoon.

The next week ran away in a blink of an eye. Professor McGonagall and Flitwick gave them a few hints about the upcoming exams at the end of the year.
- Do not forget about reading through your notes and homeworks! - the transfiguration professor told them at the end of a lesson - And practice! Out of all of you I can only name four students who can turn an red apple into a red mug. Don't whisper Miss Runcorn, your not one of that four to dare to talk.
Jess and Emma bullied Evelynn more then before and now they started to get Rachel in the middle of it.
- I told you! - Evelynn said one time after dinner - They won't let you from now on! - she shooked her head - You should have shut up!
- As if I care! - the girl was walking up the stairs furiously - next time she tries to pour any type of food! I mean ANY! She will eat it off of my robes! Professor Sprout cleaned Rachel's clothes after Samantha and Derek heard what happened and the boy went to the head of house. The robe smelled freshly washed instead of pea-soup in just second. But the Hufflepuff's anger didn't flew with it. She was constantly thinking about revenge. Evelynn tried to talk her out of it but she didn't have luck.
- I tell you! She started to mess with you - Rae was not her calm self. - She chose to die!
Lynnie almost gave it up, then finally she really did after Rae, Kay and Suzy were all planning the revege together. She just let it go.
Snape tortured them just like he usually did. Evelynn was always trying to put two and two together and understand how is this Snape is the same person she was ice-skating with. As she thought her day-dreamer elixir bubbled in the seven colors of the rainbow (as it should). On Friday she was sitting outside on a hallway, looking at the big tree on the yard. She was reading her earlier charms homeworks. Most of them had Flitwick's word as last on them. Mostly it said marvellous, few times fantastic and rarely amazing. As she was sitting (she was waiting for Suzy. Katie was in the owlery and Rachel was sleeping) she started to hum a bit. She always started it again and again. After a while a girl started to sing the song as she hummed.

- Hii! - she smiled up at the Ravenclaw - so you like the story of the Wizard of Oz?
- Yes, I liked it - she nodded and sat next to her. She put down her bag and searched in it - My mum read it a lot of times. How come you are singing this? - She sat up with a notebook and a few pencils.
- I remember my mum singing it - Evelynn answered honestly - She sang this as a lullaby.
- So... you remember her? - Suzy asked.
- I remeber her singing it - she said. It wasn't a lie - I remember my father sometimes sang with her... - she smiled sadly.
- I'm sorry, I didn't want...
- No problem! - Evelynn quickly stopped her apologising - I was already in this mood when you walked up.
They sat in silence for a few seconds but it felt long. On Evelynn's side it felt like time stopped and she was thinking as Emilla for a bit. On Suzianne's side it was akward and sad because of her. Then she slowly pulled her notebook between them. She flipped it open and it revealed gridded paper.
Evelynn picked up one of the pencils with a smirk.
- Are you up for the challenge?
- Tic Tac Toe for all the french people! - Suzy shouted revolutionary.
They played for a long time. After a lot of pages and different shape-namings (such as: bald-pirate, McGonagall-cat with hat and Rock-star Flitwick) the Ravenclaw looked at the Hufflepuff's shoulder in wonder. Evelynn turned there and a butterfly flew away from her right.
- That sat on your shoulder for soo long! - Suzy was in amazement. - It was adorable and beautiful!
Lynnie smiled then looked at the girl and started to sing.
- One heart was made of million butterflies
That carried all her fears away that night
When storm was singing nightmare lullabies.
Suzy smiled a bit.
- Did your mom...?
- Yes - she said. - She sang a lot.
They looked up the tree as the wind playfully pushed it's branches around.
