The ring of the school bell make Finney jump. Why was he so unfocused? He was always good at school, so why wasn't he paying attention? The only other time he felt this distracted was when he lost Robin, the night he found out he was missing he couldn't sleep, he was just thinking about Robin. though if he did, he was sure he probably would have been thinking about Robin anyway.
He only ever felt this distracted when he lost Robin...
Finneys head spun when he stood up. He stood there for a moment, his vision faded to black for a moment. 'Too fast' He thought, he was talking about how he had stood up too fast, yet when he thought about it, everything was happening too fast.
After a few seconds, which felt longer to Finney, his vision was regained and he felt a fuzzy sensation over his body. It was like it was only then when he remembered where he was when he looks around the room and caught the concerned glance of Robin, to which Finny quickly looked away from.
He didn't say a word to Robin, he wanted to, but he didn't know what he would say if he did. Finney just left, he'd wasted enough of his time in that classroom, even part of passing period. At least his last class he'd have someone else to talk to, someone to keep his mind off of Robin.
. . .
"Where's your friend?" Donna asked Finney, leaning io against the frame of the science classroom door. "What?" Finney responded, he wasn't necessarily confused, he knew what she asked but her words just went in one ear and out the other, his brain couldn't process any response besides 'what'.
"Robin, he walks you to class everyday doesn't he? Where's he at?" Donna questioned, Finney couldn't tell if she was genuinely curious or if she was just trying to start a conversation. "Oh." Finney said, pausing for a brief moment, searching for something to say in response. "I don't know." Finney replied honestly, unable to come up with an excuse.
"Really? Hm." Donna hummed as she finally stood up straight, beginning to walk into the classroom"I'd expect you of all people to know." She said, her voice was flat, not mean, just flat, like she was reading off a statement.
Finney stayed silent and followed her inside if their science classroom, setting down his things as the desk and sighing quietly. Why did Donna have to bring up Robin? She was supposed to be a distraction...
. . .
Robin watched as Finney walked out of the classroom, he followed, he was contemplating just skipping his next class or faking sick and going home because honestly he didn't know how much more of this he could take. He felt like crying, but he couldn't cry. If he cried, especially in school, people would know he wasn't the tough kid that he wanted everyone to think he was.
He felt sick, not actually sick, but the kind of sick where you just feel hopeless and dreadful, the type of sick you feel when you lose something important, something that you thought you'd never let go of.
Robin hated school, the only reason he went was because of Finney, but he couldn't even use that as a reason to go anymore because Finney seemed to be using every chance he could to avoid him. At this point, Robin didn't care, he didn't care about himself anymore. When Finney was around all the time he had an excuse to try and be the best he could be for him, but now he didn't have an excuse to try, and he didn't have a reason to care about the consequences either.
He was just being reckless with himself. Over the weekend, he had used every moment as an excuse to get into a fight or run his mouth or do something careless because he didn't have a reason to care anymore.
Things changed, and Robin hated change, and as much as he wished things could go back to normal he knew they couldn't. Things hadn't been normal ever since that day at the corner store, he'd just tried to pretend they were, but he couldn't even pretend anymore, things changed, a lot, and Robin hated that.
