Max's POV:

I had woken up early to get some coffee for me and for Dylan. I walked in the garage carefully to not drop both coffees.

"Max, you're early." I heard a voice and looked up seeing Christian.

"Yeah."

"Great, you should go to the engineers to check your times in sector 3. They're good but there's always room for improvement, right?" He smiled and I nodded.

"Yeah, yeah, but first I need to do something." I replied and Christian tilted his head. "Is Dylan here already?" I asked and he chuckled softly.

"You know she is. She's in her driver's room." He replied.

"Thanks." I smiled at him and started making my way towards her driver's room.

I stood in front of the white door and looked at my hands. I sighed and held both coffees with one hand. I struggled to knock the door but finally did it with my free hand. I heard footsteps and grabbed both coffees.

She opened the door and looked at me with an unamused expression.

"Yes?" She raised her eyebrows.

"Uh...hey. I...I brought you coffee." I extended the cup and she looked at it and then at me. "It's not poison don't worry." I joked and she bit her under lip and grabbed it.

"Is that all?" She asked and I opened my mouth to say something but closed it again.

Come on Max, you practiced this. I repeated my action many times as she stared at me confused and annoyed.

"Okay. Thanks for the coffee." She raised her eyebrows and closed the door.

"Dylan I..." I was about to say but she had already closed the door. "Shit." I cursed under my breath and walked away.

[...]

The race was about to start. I fidgeted with ny hands as I saw Dylan getting ready for the race. She was stretching.

I needed to tell her I'm sorry.

"Are you just gonna keep staring at her or are you gonna finally apologize?" I heard a voice and turned around seeing Theo.

"I just don't know how." I replied and he chuckled softly.

"Dylan will forgive you eventually. She's prideful but she actually misses you." He spoke and I looked at Dylan and then at him.

"Really?" I asked and he nodded in response. "Okay." I swallowed hard. "I'll go there."

"Good luck. And don't tell her I told you that." Theo patted my back and I smiled.

"Your secret's safe with me." I replied and he smiled walking away.

I took a deep breath my smile fading as I looked at the brunette. I walked towards her. She had her earphones on and was facing another direction. I touched her shoulder and she jumped startled and turned around. I raised my hands in fake surrender.

"You scared the shit out of me." She took her earphone off putting her hand on her chest. I pursed my lips and she sighed exasperated. "What do you want now?"

"I'm..." I took a deep breath. "I'm sorry." I finally apologized and her façade fell for a second to then go back to a cold expression.

"Okay. Is that it?" She asked and I nodded.

"I'm really sorry for being a jerk. You deserve to win as much as I do." I spoke.

"Yeah I do." She replied and I pursed my lips nodding.
