Max's POV:

I was out in the terrace leaning against the railing. I heard footsteps and saw Dylan on the door frame. She had her sneakers in hand.

"Hey." She smiled.

"Hey." I smiled back.

"Do you think your parents are gonna like me?" She asked as she sat down to put her sneakers on and I followed her with my eyes.

"My mom was a racing driver too, she'll love you. My sister and you share the sense of humor." I replied and saw her smile widen.

"Which is what? Annoying you?" She raised her eyebrows and I chuckled.

"Yeah, pretty much." I nodded and she chuckled.

"What about your dad?" She asked and my smiled faded slowly.

"I..." I stuttered and scratched the back of my neck nervously. "My...my dad is a totally character. You have to meet him to know." I shrugged and she gave me a comforting smile.

"I feel like I'm invading your space." She spoke looking around when she finished tying her shoes.

"No...I quite enjoy your company." I spoke and she looked down with a smile. "Just a little." I joked and she chuckled.

Her phone rang and she looked at it. She sighed and then looked at me.

"I'm just gonna answer this and then we can go, is that okay?" She asked forcing a smile, which I immediately noticed. This type of smile didn't make her eyes shine or crinkle. It didn't light up the whole room.

"Sure." I shrugged nodding and she walked off.

Dylan's POV:

I walked in the restroom and locked the door. I answered and put the phone in my ear.

"What now?" I answered before he could say anything.

"Hello to you too Dyl." His voice sounded and made a shiver run down my spine. I just wanted to hang up.

"I don't have time for this. Please go straight to the point." I told him and heard him sigh deeply.

I knew exactly what he wanted.

"I got a huge debt, I'm gonna get kicked out of my apartment if I don't pay the delayed rent. Just this one last time, please help me." He begged and I closed my eyes and looked up.

I shook my head pursing my lips.

"How much do you need?" I asked.

"2k? 3?" He replied and I scoffed.

"I'll send it to you in a while, just don't spend it on drugs please." I spoke with hurt in my voice. "Please promise me you'll actually pay your rent."

"I will, I will baby, I promise." He spoke desperately and I swallowed hard.

"Have you gone to see mom?" I asked and heard a deafening silence on the other side.

"I...I haven't had the time." He stuttered, making up an excuse.

"You know she would have supported you if you were the one in that bed. She did many times, dad." I spoke and heard him sigh.

"I will go see your mom, I promise. As soon as I get my car fixed and pay the rent."

"What happened to your car?" I asked furrowing my brows. I got no reply. "Dad, what the hell happened to your car?"

"I...I accidentally crashed into a lamppost. Nothing too worry about, honey." He spoke and I furrowed my brows.

"Please, please tell me you weren't drunk."
