Chapter 11: ain't no love for him he wanna be a yuppie ting

Matthew's face looked so lost when I took him to the gardens. Of course, i had to tell him everything. I needed to have a chat with him.

"So? Why are we here?" He asked, shrugging with his hands. "Well, to give the two lovebirds space." I responded with a smile. He chuckled. We paused for a moment. "If they're not dating then..." he spoke again until his eyes got widened. Our eyes met each other while he tried to guess what my intentions meant.

"So you're wondering what I already know about." I showed a smug smile at him. His eyes balled out even more. "They like each-" the volume was kind of high until I covered his mouth. Fuck, his lips were so plump and fluffy. His eyes squeezed, trying to hold a grip of my hand.

"It's better if we keep this amongst ourselves." I told him and removed my hand. He pouted at me, and answered saying, "Hyung! You should've sshhed me."

To be honest, he kind of looks cute while saying this, but why is he even calling me a hyung?

"Aren't we the same age Matthew?" - curiosity striked me till that extent. He shook his head. "A year younger. i was born in 2002." He answered to my question. So, he is the definition of tiny itself. Wait, if Hao hyung is born in 2000, then that means in our class we have a two year age gap max. Fascinating.

"Hao hyung was born in 2000, damn, your friend is the oldest in the class while you being the youngest." I told him. Matthew groaned at me for absolutely no reason until he bragged, "Why are you obsessed with that guy? What do you even see in him?"

"He's really diligent, cunning, smart, cool and legit so sweet. Moreover, he's hot. Like him playing the piano is the hottest thing I've seen." I spoke my mind off once again. Matthew sighed.

"He was cunning enough to break up with you and cover it up with the sweetness. You're really a fool." He said that. Ok what? He called me a fool?

"What about you child. Weren't you a fool like that once too, behind your ex." I back answered him. He deserved that. He's the one who's being a fool right now.

"I'm so glad I don't even have one." He responded. Huh? Didn't he mention once that he had the same shit like me and Hao, but back in Canada? Now he's also a compulsive liar, I knew it.

"Didn't you say that you had a traumatising experience like that in the past once?" I asked him. He nodded his head. If he had experience with romance and has never dated, how is he supposed to say this.

"Then how can you say that you haven't been in a relationship?" I questioned him. He sighed once again. Maybe he was at a loss of words.

"Situationships exist." He said that so bluntly like? Whats a situationship? Is that something that depends on our cultural differences? I looked at him making a 'uh' sound at him. He facepalmed himself and told himself that it's not Canada.

"It's when you're more than friends but less than lovers." He explained it to me. Now, what in the western culture was that? New terms? Seriously?

"Isn't it a bit, complicated?" I reacted. He nodded and said that there were people his age in canada who didn't have the mental stability to date. Okay it sounds reasonable yet unreasonable.

Also, I again take back what I last thought of Matthew. He's not a compulsive liar I guess.

Hearing about Matthew being in a situationship,it's kind of obvious since he seems more of the shy guy who doesn't want to open up and get attached to everyone. Of course, in that way, he didn't really get hurt.

Id still say that being in a situationship is wrong, because it sounds really complicated. With relationships, love transcends itself. In situationship, it feels like they're trying to transcend actual love.

Now, since it was unfair to know that he was in one, without the actual details and that he knew about my former relationship with Hao, I asked him who was he involved with.

"Why should I tell you?" He tried to deny telling me. Of course, I had to tell him that it wasn't a fair trade. He crossed his arms and turned a bit away.

"You know about me being in one with Hao, why can't I know who were you with?!" I exclaimed. He hummed in response. "Right. Since you've told me some things about yours, I'll share the same details." He said back.

Okay, that was fine. Acceptable. "His name was Kim Jiwoong." He said. Damn, no emotions in him. He really seemed to move on. Also, the fact that they were both of the same ethnicity.

"So y'all bonded over being Korean?" I asked. He shook his head and said that it was a secret. Ok, I haven't told him how me and Hao had started our relationship.

"Jiwoong hyung was really pretty, and was a reliable hyung at first. Unfortunately, things between us didn't tailor each other anymore. Hence, we cut off the situationship. Besides, I already knew that something was wrong with him." He said without any hesitation.

Damn, clever and mature of him. "So, you don't like him anymore?" I asked. He denied once again. "I wouldn't want to reread an old book no matter what. Shit won't fascinate me, it'll make me realise what else more happened." He replied. It was a bright response.

"Teach me your ways." I pleaded. He smiled a bit and said that the consistency of refusal and denial should be there, so that i could also get over. He also mentioned that it took him a month or two to get over it, and he tried to not let any of his studies get interfered due to it, but kind of failed.

"And eventually, I decided that I couldn't always read and stay on the same page throughout my life. So, I thought I should move on from whatever happened and I did. It didn't even hurt that much."he ended his story, leaving my mouth wide, wowing at him.

The bell soon rung, and I stared at my watch. Matthew yawned his soul off and said in a low tone, "I'm feeling sleepy anyways. Let's go to class and sit together." Following that, we proceeded to go and attend economics class.
