Tied in a knot is my foreign tongue.
It hides in big crowds
Where the locals view me like a show.
Put to shame,
I want to flee.
Turned away, yet lingering back.
That world calls me like a friend.
For so long, we felt like frenemies.
Though, the other world knows
My routines.
My lingo,
My preferences.
I cannot abandon the other and just remain with one.
Both have shown me pain.
Both have outweighed each other on different days.
I wave to the foreigners.
They stare at me.
I may look like them,
But fail to be like them.
Both worlds: chains of financial strain and floorboards of wants and needs.
The cold front meets the heat.
Caught in-between two giants.
I choose to stay.
As I am growing older, I find ways.
Strategies to balance and somehow please both.
Bits and pieces.
Portions and parts.
I am no pro, but I cannot avoid such episodes.
I wave again to the foreigners.
Shy smiles and slight nods are their responses.
Better to try.
Better to fight.
Better to see.
Better to embrace than yearn for the feel.
