Chapter 21
Treasure's POV:Ugh freedom at last, freedom at last. If you couldn't tell by the first 2 sentences, me and Liz are free from Elijah. Well not entirely but close enough. Two nights ago, he gave us a visit so we can go over the things we wanted to add and remove in the contract.
Long story short, he didn't like not one thing we said. But we persuaded the main things like no guards, only for missions just in case needed. But everything was back to normal for the most part. He did have a bitch fit about me going back to the club. The only way he was gonna allow me to go was if there were guards watching me, and no private dances for anyone but him of course.
I agreed because the club is a smart way to get quick, easy information, as long as you get close to the right people, like Naomi and Lani for example. But I like them as friends so I don't try to ask for information. If it so happens that we're talking about the topic then I will ask questions out of curiosity, but I don't willingly ask information anymore. It still makes us sneaky but we have jobs to do.
Right now we're back at our apartments and I didn't think I would miss a fake home so badly. I plan on getting everything back to normal, as in work and school. I plan on visiting the club tonight and hoping Stephano would let me get my job back. I have a feeling Elijah probably told him to let me get it back but I wanna do it and earn it myself.
As for school, I made Elijah send a letter reversing what he did in the first place. Since he was the one that sent a note the first time saying I wouldn't be there for family issues. I'm having issues but it ain't about no family. I would do it myself but I don't know if he said a specific family issue and I'm not gonna take that chance of saying anything wrong.
Now, Eduardo. I'm not sure if I trust Elijah with his word that he won't have his people watching me, so I'm not gonna meet up with him just yet. Although I'm dying to know if he's figured anything out.
I didn't have anything planned for this beautiful Thursday but the club so I grabbed my phone and dialed Iya's number knowing at this time she'd be on her way home if not home already from work.
It took some time for her to answer but she did to the second to last ring. "Hello."
"Hey Iya, long time no hear."
"Oh my god where have you been?" I didn't know how to respond to that cause if we're being honest life's been shitty and fucking unpredictable but I don't wanna say all of that and worry her so I just said the first word that popped up in my mind. "Occupied."
"Why it took you so long to respond?"
"Cause I couldn't find the right word to describe how i've been. A lot has happened."
"School?" She knows it's about the mission, I'm glad she remembers though. And even if we didn't plan to say school as the cover up, she would've known me saying school as the problem would be false. I've always been book smart and if I ever struggled I made sure I overcame whatever problem I had with the subject and made sure I passed. I ended up graduating on top of my class along with Iya even though we didn't like school. We just wanted to get out of there and go to college, to get our degrees.
"Yea, I'm struggling over here."
"I believe in you. You got this and let me know if you ever need my help." Iya would be useful but dangerous. She works for one of the top lawyers and for a high powered man like Elijah, I'm pretty sure he has high powers with the law because of his job.
That means Iya would have to snoop in her boss's office or contact other lawyers that could possibly be their lawyers, but that wouldn't be too difficult to find out through Gianna and Noami. But we are not doing that. It can risk so many things like Iya's job for instance. This is a once and lifetime opportunity for her, to be shadowing a high known lawyer. And Noami and Gianna, that's just full betrayal again. I already said I wouldn't willinging use them. Not that that helps but it's better than what we should be doing.
