Mushroom Kingdom

The two find themselves in a brightly colored mushroom forest. Structures floating in midair are seen in the distance. Mario glances at a blue mushroom in confusion. Rosy gestures for him to go ahead and touch it. As Mario approaches the blue mushroom, a small mushroom-capped person, Toad, jumps out.

"DO NOT TOUCH THAT MUSHROOM; YOU'LL DIE!" Toad shouts, making Mario scream and falls back to the ground. Rosy had her hand on her chest from the sudden appearance of the person. Toad looks at the mushroom more closely, "Oh! I'm sorry." He chuckles, "That one's perfectly fine." Toad pats the blue mushroom. In fright, Mario backs away along the ground, "Ah, it's a little mushroom... man. A little mushroom man, talking to me." He glances up at Rosy.

"Pleased to meet ya! I'm Toad!" Toad grins before walking away. "Uhh... Mario. And Rosy." Mario gets up and follows Toad. "So this is, uh... This is, this is not a dream?" Mario questions. Rosy follows behind Mario. Toad spins around and whacks Mario's arm with his walking stick, causing him to exclaim in pain.

"OW!"

Toad grins, "That hurt, right?" Mario glares at the shorter man, "YES!" Rosy covers her mouth with a chuckle. "Definitely not a dream." Toad continues walking. Mario looks around, "Then, it's... This place is..."

"The Mushroom Kingdom!" Toad chirps happily. Mario frowns, "Mushrooms. Really? Now that is a cruel twist of fate." He grumbles just as a creature with long legs made of vines, a Bramball, stretches over Mario. Rosy grins as Mario gasps, "Hello." The Bramball continues on its way.

Mario and Rosy continue following Toad, "Yeah, we're actually looking for somebody - my brother, in fact. He looks exactly like me, but tall, and skinny, and green. See, last time we saw him; he was falling through a pipe. It was foggy, and I believe there was lava--"

Toad gasps, spinning back to them, "Uh, that is not good. Umm... Your brother has landed in the Dark Lands. They're under Bowser's control." Rosy flinches at Toad's frightened tone. Mario tilts his head, "Bowser?"

"He's the most evil, wretched creature alive." Toad sticks his walking stick into a mushroom and pulls Rosy and Mario up with him, "I'm taking you to see the princess. She can help. She can do anything!"

Mario and Rosy, mostly Mario, gasp, "Princess?" In the distance, Mario sees a magnificent white and red castle surrounded by a large town. Rosy notices Mario stare in awe. Toad moves along and calls over his shoulder, "Come on, Mario and Rosy! Our big adventure begins now!"

"Hang on, Luigi," Mario mutters as they follow Toad, jumping across the mushrooms toward the castle.
