Murtagh rolled over and looked over at the sleeping Fallyn.
He'd told them all everything. Sure, Fallyn had known who his father was. She knew... but at the same time, she knew nothing. He recalled the complex mix of emotions that had flittered across her face when he revealed the scar his father left him.
Her hate for his father was immense, and his story seemed to have added to that. But she seemed to like him.
He felt his stomach flutter at that thought.
She didn't hate him.
She would patiently and honestly answer his questions.
Her recent outburst towards Eragon and subsequent coldness also helped that pit of jealousy he'd been trying to ignore.
He recalled their most recent conversation - she had hinted at knowing or at least meeting his mother. There didn't seem to be animosity between them, not like there had been with his father. That, and she hadn't seemed to realise that the woman she had met that time was his mother.
"I don't know if I want to keep learning more about her," he thought as he looked over at her sleeping shape. "The more I learn, the more alien she feels. She seems both more ancient and awe-inspiring while also so very... human. It's... fascinating."
His eyes drifted closed, thoughts whirling into confused dreams, which would give way to distant singing.
