This one's a bit longer, but like I say, I'm just getting everything and everyone introduced. They'll get longer, honest.

The journey to my dad's house was bearable, and over time, it became enjoyable. I began to forget about exactly why I was going to my dad's, and it felt just like a normal day. We listened to various bands that my dad loved including Nirvana, Green Day, Foo Fighters, The Offspring etc. My dad and I had similar music tastes, so it was fun just singing loudly with him as we cruised down to San Diego. After sharing stories and jokes, and just having a nice, calm catch up, I drifted off to sleep with my head rested against the passenger side window.

"Taylor, wakey wakey!" I heard a voice shouting me, and I expected it to be my dad telling me we'd arrived at his house. "Wake up Taylor, I wanna' go to the park!" I woke up slightly, finally recognising the voice. I rolled over onto my back and opened my eyes, rubbing them tiredly. I wasn't in the car; I was in my room at my dad's. My dad must've carried me in to bed.

"Can't my dad take you?" I asked, voice quiet.

"No, he's got work, and my mom is going shopping, pleeeeease take me to the park!" I raised my eyebrow slightly, looking at my eight year old step-brother, Max. His brown curly hair was all scuffed up, and he was still in his pyjamas. He grinned at me, and I couldn't help but smile back.

"What do I get out of this?" I asked, unable to keep the smirk from my lips. I sat up in my bed, ruffling my bed hair. He was grinning at me as he thought of something that I got in return.

"MY LOVE! LOVE YOU TAYTAY!" He shouted, running around my bedroom. I couldn't help but laugh at him.

"Okay, okay, I'll take you to the park. Shoo, whilst I get ready." I smirked, ushering him out of my room and closing the door. I smiled to myself. It was nice for things to feel normal around here, because things hadn’t felt like that in a long time. I went into the en suite bathroom and switched on the shower. That's what I liked about my dad's house; he treated everybody well, and this bedroom/bathroom package was part of it. I never got this at my mom's. In fact, my mom's house was really small, and it was a struggle to have just the two of us living there. I wiped the thoughts out of my mind, wanting to forget about it all and start afresh. I quickly showered as I didn't want to keep Max waiting.

I brushed my teeth as I was in the bathroom before shuffling tiredly into my room. With a groan, I opened my suitcase that was propped up at the end of my bed and began in search of some clothes to wear. It was boiling hot today outside; you could tell just by looking out the window that it was bound to be scorching. Despite this, I pulled on my ripped black jeans. I settled on a camo print t-shirt and slipped on my black Vans. I didn't really have many clothes suitable enough for the heat, so I'd have to go shopping at some point. It was bound to be even warmer soon, as it was summer. Summer vacation had just started for everyone, so I'd have to buy something nice to make a decent impression on people. I grabbed my hair dryer and quickly dried my hair, looking in the mirror at my natural brunette curls that bounced around my shoulders. I decided to leave my hair natural and only apply a minimum amount of make-up before shoving some money and my phone into my jean pocket and heading down to the kitchen.
