“So, what’s on your agenda for today then, Tay? Tayls. TDawg. T to the A to the Y.”

“Dad, stop.” I said, laughing at how silly he was being. “I don’t know. I’ll probably mope around like the boring sod I am.” I picked up my mug of coffee and was just about to take a sip when my phone buzzed on the kitchen counter. I sighed and put my cup down, opening the text from a number I didn’t recognise.

Unknown: Hey Taylor, it’s Jordan. Vic gave me your number I hope you don’t mind. We’re all gonna’ hang out today if you want to join us? Actually, that’s not a question. You’re coming. We’ll be round to pick you up in about an hour.

I saved Jordan’s number to my phone and looked up at my dad. “Let’s scrap that idea, I’m being forced to go out.”

Me: Ooh, sounds fun. I can’t even be like ‘yeah I’m up for it’ bc you’re forcing me to go anyway.

“Seems you made friends pretty fast. Was it the guy from yesterday who text you?” My dad asked, seemingly interested.

“Nope, his friend Jordan. But he’ll be with them too.” I stated, taking a sip of my coffee. I couldn’t function in the morning without coffee. I’d like to say that this is my wake up coffee, but I think it’s cup number five or something ridiculous like that.

“Max told me the guy from yesterday is your boyfriend.” The smirk playing at my dad’s lips was easily noticeable. I laughed and shook my head.

“I’ve known him two days, dad.” I laughed again. Oh Max.

“Alright, alright. Just be careful hanging around boys. And if anything does happen with any of them, then I want you to-“ He started to shuffle awkwardly.

“Not the talk, dad, oh God please no.” I groaned, washing my empty cup out. “Please don’t go there. I’m not an idiot.”

“Thank God.” He breathed a sigh of relief. “I’m not good with all that.” I groaned again and wandered towards the door.

“I’m going to get changed.” I muttered, running out and up the stairs to my room.

Considering I had about an hour, I decided I’d shower first. The heat was really getting to me in San Diego, and since being here, I think I’ve showered about a million times. Okay, that’s an overstatement, but I have showered more than a normal human being since being here. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body, walking back out into my room. I spent a while on my appearance, why exactly, I don’t know. I had nobody to impress, and it wasn’t really like me. I guess I just needed to pass the time. By spending a while on my appearance, I mean I straightened my hair, put on make-up and changed from my usual jeans and t-shirt to some black denim shorts and a Nirvana tank top.

I was lacing up my all black Converse when I heard some shouting from outside the house. Eyebrows raised slightly, I wandered over to the window to see Jordan hanging out the window of Vic’s car, repeatedly shouting my name. I smirked and grabbed my phone and money, running at a fast pace down the stairs. I stumbled towards the bottom and fell into my dad.

“Woah there, Tayls.” He chuckled, putting his hands on my shoulders to steady me. “I was just going to see what all that chaos outside was, could you hear it? Or am I just hearing things-“ He managed before getting cut off from the honk of a car horn.

“That’d be my friends.” I said, laughing awkwardly. “I best go before they get even more impatient.” I ran out the door before my dad could say another word.

“Taylor!” Jordan grinned when he saw me.

“Jordan!” I exclaimed, grinning at him. I opened the door to the car and clambered into the back, sitting next to Jordan, who had Jaime on his other side. Vic was driving, and Mike was in the passenger’s seat. “S’up, guys.” I said, smiling at them all. They all said hey in return, and then Vic set off down the road.
