Karthik's POV:
I liked her smiling. She looks so peaceful and serene. I saw her sitting on the sand and watching the sunset. If not now, I don't know when I'll be able to show her this island. I settled beside her and leaned my head on her shoulder.
" I love this place. How did you find it?" She asked with glistering eyes. Her smile looked more radiant than the rays of the sun.
" This is the Karmadweepa. My mother loves this place a lot. " I said in a low voice and she hummed to continue further.
" She believes that only the people who have done great Karma come here along with their partner. I just felt like showing you this place." I said and shrugged.
" Mom has great choices, Karthik." She said with glee and an automatic smile graced my lips. She just accepted the whole of me like it was nothing. She accepted my preferences and started calling my mom hers.
" So does her son baby." I laughed and kissed her temple. She closed her eyes slowly and turned to me.
" Did she come here along with your father?" She asked with her eyes still closed. She is scared that I might yell at her for taking his name.
" Open your eyes, Angel. Don't you want to know the answer?" I asked softer than usual.
" Haa?" She asked opening her eyes.
" She couldn't make it here with that rogue. She has hardly been 5 years with him in marriage. Later, they killed her." I shrugged and my voice broke at the end.
" Won't they hurt Virana Karthik? We are not with her." She asked concerned.
" I've assigned my bodyguards to her and worry not dear, they or Virana don't know that they are being watched.
" I don't know you have bodyguards." She said demented making me chuckle.
" Do you think that I can't afford them?" I asked wiggling my eyebrows.
" No... I didn't mean it that way. Stop manipulating me with my own words Karthik. " She started hitting me and it hit my shoulder.
" Ahhh Stop it, you Devil. You are hurting me." I said and held her hands. She looked at me angrily and she faced the other side.
" Stop being a child Diya. Come on look at me." I asked her softly and she turned to me then. I pulled her between my legs and pushed her body on mine. I comfortably embraced her in my arms and sighed looking at the golden ball that is slowly bringing up his blanket.
The warm breeze mixed with the salty air put me at ease after a lot of days.
" I love you, Diya." I confessed and she stayed silent. She turned to me and just smiled. An unknown feeling started to prick inside my heart. Did I hurt her so much that she is losing interest in me?
I slowly slid her t-shirt and kissed her shoulder. She looked normal and in fact, she seemed to enjoy both the sunset and my touches.
" I had bodyguards back then and now too. It's just that I don't want to make you feel insecure. It doesn't settle with me seeing you go away from me, whatever the fucking reason may be." I answered and she held my hand kissing them gently. I looked at her startled and she looked at me biting her lip. She is unsure about kissing me, then did she even do that? I agree that there is not even 25% of the romance between us that used to be before our wedding.
" I think Dhruv is a very good guy. And Virana deserves a person who loves her to the moon and back. I've seen him twice I guess. He is so polite and down to earth Karthik." She told me looking directly into my eyes with her doe ones.
