Author's POV:
The fortnight was literally hell to the Head Priest, Karthik and the guards over there. They saw the agony, blood and madness of Diya. She turned to Satan boring all the side effects of her medicines and the rage and hate she developed for Karthik were at apogee.
Karthik looked calm despite his inner trauma.
" It's time dear King." The head priest suggested and Karthik nodded coldly. He fished his mobile out of his pocket and dialled the CEO of the steel company his father owned.
" Hello!" Came a voice from the other side.
" Your doom," Karthik said smoothly with a dark smirk.
" Who are you?" Came a strong voice from the other side.
" I repeat, YOUR DOOM." Karthik's voice turned colder and gruff sending the chills down his spine.
" Happy dethroning." Karthik gruffed before ending the call.
He leaned back on his large seat and closed his eyes. His face's face graced in front of him. Her hair lost its shine, her body so thin and her skin so pale that it lost its glow. A slow tear slipped from the corner of his eye seeping into his loose curls.
He never noticed when he slept until his neck pained at the uncomfortable position. He groaned as his muscle pull grew intense. He held his hand and looked around to see the bright sun illuminating the surroundings. He walked down and saw his wife who was looking at the ceiling aimlessly.
He looked at everyone to leave them alone and they left without making a sound.
" Good riddance that they are gone. How are you, King?" Diya asked still looking at the ceiling that looked ready to fall onto her.
" How do you know that they left and I'm here?" Karthik's voice turned soft from gruff.
" I've been here for a long time I guess, that I can even hear the sound of their breaths. Irony I know. I sensed your malicious soul near me." She gruffed pinching Karthik's heart.
" What are you here for?" Asked Diya still looking at the top.
" I want to see you." He answered the truth and he just saw her smile at the ceiling and the eyes wet. An unknown pain passed Karthik's chest seeing his wife's smile while he was filled with pain. He doesn't know where he heard it from but he felt that that phrase could now depict his wife's feelings perfectly.
The worst kind of pain is when you are smiling just to stop the tears from falling.
" Look at me, Diya!" Karthik asked and she just closed her eyes. His disappointment is painfully sweet that he kept looking at her as she slept pretending to not look at him. His wife is no more the innocent woman he saw in the ice ring. She changed and he is not happy with the change but the change is essential to keep her away from the hell his father and stepfamily planned for.
He moved closer and clemently moved her rogues that were masking her face. Karthik placed a slow kiss on her forehead and sighed.
" My Angel." He mumbled as the sudden emotions took over him.
He gently picked up her sleeping form and looked at the guards he assigned for his wife.
" Please close the dungeons and leave." He said and looked at his wife. He walked to their chamber and closed the huge doors bolting them. He placed her on the soft bed and covered her with the duvet.
He pulled the curtains closer and sat on the chair like a king. His smouldering eyes looked at her with so much love and relief that she was out of danger. Her body has taken in so much pain and so does her pain.
