Chapter eleven

I raise my head and meet beautiful lime-colored eyes, and feel immediately relieved.
' Garreth, by Merlin it's you ! '
The handsome Gryffindor smiled proudly at me as he hugged me. The warmth of his body soothes me and calms my tremors.
' You...you can let go of me now... ' I said, embarrassed by this new closeness.
' Oh yes ! Of course. '
Garreth gently lowers me to the ground, takes off his wizard robe and drapes it around my shoulders. I was so horrified by this siren's attack that I didn't notice that she had taken my uniform sleeve with her.
' Your uniform is ruined, you will have to buy one from Gladrags. ' Said my friend, gently ruffling my hair.
My gaze wanders to the lake, to the exact spot where this monster was so close to ending my life.
' I had no idea mermaids were so...tenacious. And creepy. Seriously, the statutes and paintings on the school grounds that depict them are fake ! '
' In general, it is very rare that they show themselves to us. I imagine that this one was curious, and that when she saw you approaching she thought that you looked appetizing. ' He retorts while laughing. ' Believe me, you were lucky. If a boy would have been in your place, and the siren would have started to sing, I wouldn't have given much of his life. '
' You call that luck ?! She tried to drown me to give me her snack ! A few more seconds and poof ! Y/n no longer existed ! '
Garreth walks over to me again, his usual teasing smile on his face, and grabs my waist once more.
' That's why I came to your rescue like a brave knight. I would never allow myself to abandon a damsel in distress, especially if she is as lovely as you. It wouldn't be fair. ' He said leaning over to kiss my hand.
What a clown, he never stops! Ever since I came to Hogwarts, we've always had to work together. Whether it's in terms of education, or in terms of personal stuff. Garreth is my light in the darkest times of my life, throughout the year he has always been by my side to comfort me. I like his radiant and curious character. His ability to act without thinking is...remarkable. He likes to try new things to brighten his days, he not only breathes like many humans in this world, but he really lives.
Sometimes when I watch him I feel like I'm standing in front of a more "angelic" version of Sebastian.
' So... Are you going to tell me why you were hanging out here alone at this time of the evening ? ' He asks, bringing me back to reality.
