Chapter twenty-four

' Let her sleep. That'll teach her to always rely on others to wake her up.'

The sun rises peacefully as Y/n and I pack our things to shower.

Imelda, as usual, is sleeping soundly and paying no attention to the commotion around her. I prefer her that way : silent and motionless.

' Don't be so hard on her, she's just not a morning person, nothing to make a big deal out of it. ' Answers my roommate, grabbing the pile of clothes she had prepared the day before.

Always defending her... But when it comes to me, they are happy to humiliate me.

' Certainly, if you say so. She's your friend after all, not mine. ' I said as I finished arranging my ponytail.
' Alright, we can go. '

Y/n nods, and we both leave our room. I carefully slam the door behind me, hoping to disturb Reyes' sleep.
And it doesn't escape my comrade, who glares at me, to which I respond with an innocent smile.

' It's ok, I'm joking ! '

The corridors of the Common Room are almost empty at such an hour, very few people get up so early. On the way to the showers we meet two or three students, but no more, most of them preferring to stay in bed.

What a mistake... As they say : the future belongs to those who get up early.

I have always liked the atmosphere that reigns here from dawn. The sun barely peeking out, and faintly illuminating the waters of the black lake; the enchanted instruments that play soothing and melodious waltzes. Calm and silence... A real treat !

' Are you planning to attend some classes today ? ' Y/n ask.

' No, I was thinking of spending my day at the Library, actually. I know all my classes like the back of my hand, but a few revisions won't kill me. '

In truth, I really need to revise my potions lessons. Sharp stresses me so much during his classes that I find myself unable to remember anything.
I have very little hope of validating my OWLs in this subject, and that won't please my father...

' Grace, work hard ! '
' Grace, don't shame our family ! '

All his hopes rest on me, it becomes exhausting. But I don't want to sully our title !

On tiptoe, we finally arrive at the showers. They are deserted, each cabin is open, which leaves us a considerable choice.

' I must admit that it's not that bad to get up early to avoid waiting indefinitely. Your arrival at the castle was not so useless after all. ' I said, taking a clean towel from a silver tray.
