Disclaimer: I am not deaf or hard of hearing but I am writing this while referencing my own expierence. A few years ago a buildup of earwax caused me to not be able to hear, it started small and well built up, until it completely blocked off my hearing. Im mentioning this because i am putting the frusteration i felt into this and it may not be accurate to someone with hearing damage and such, and feel free to educate me further or correct me in the comments.
Also I know a fair bit of ASL which I do mention and it will be the referenced sign language in this story, even though usually they would use jsl. Just using asl because of my own knowledge of it.
Later edit: adding to that I thought of a way why asl might make sense. Well partly. Read to find out?
