(Bakugo POV)
It wasnt until my first day at UA that I noticed it. After facing off the rest of my class with various tests on our abilities, my ears started ringing. Never before had I used my quirk so much in a short amount of time. After the last explosion was when the ringing started, and for the rest of the day everything felt like the volume was turned down a few notches.
When I got home after school I mentioned it to the old hag, who insisted we see a doctor. I hated waiting at the doctors to be seen, and anxienty swarmed in my stomach, making me feel a bit lightheaded.
I was quiet when we were brought in for the exam. They checked my ears and did a hearing test. Another look at my profile and they had their answer, and it wasnt one I ever expected, or wanted.
"The explosions from your quirk are causing ear damage and continual usage will lead to further damage, rendering you deaf."
"WHAT?!!!" Both Mitsuki and I shouted. The doctor muttered a small apology, said that was the diagnoses, and quickly left us alone to proccess it.
I looked at my mother and she looked right back, both of our minds struggling to proccess the news. Despite calling her an old hag, my mom was the only one who really understood me.
"Katsuki, breathe." She said, noticing me starting to hyperventilate. *This cant be happening. I was going deaf? Because of my quirk? That cant happen. Im going to be a hero-* "KATSUKI!"
She startled me out of my thoughts and hugged me immediatly. I could feel tears starting to well up in my eyes.
"Lets talk about it when we get home, with Masaru too, okay?" I nodded.

I didnt pay any attention when the doctor came back in. He talked to the hag for awhile and then let us leave. I was still silent the whole drive home.
When we sat at the dining table with Masaru, my thoughts were finally in place. "Im not going to stop being a hero." I blurted out. My mom nodded, and my dad immediatly went to interject. "But Katsuki-"
"Dear hes dreamed about this his whole life, theres no stopping him." My dad stopped, but still seemed like he had more to say. "Okay. You still want to be a hero, even though your going to become deaf if you continue training, correct?" I nodded. "And how are you going to do that if you cant hear?"
"Im going to be able to hear for a good bit longer before my hearings all gone, so Ill finish at UA and learn to read lips. No one will even have to know. I can have a good sidekick who has some sort of hearing or telepathy quirk or both or something and Ill be fine."
My mom paused. "And missions?"
"Ill have them write it down either way so I have all the details in place."
She nodded, than sighed as she exchanged a look with my dad. "What about learning sign language?"
I grimanced immediatly. "No."
"Katsuki-" My dad tried to interject again. "I said no!" I shouted before he could continue. "Im going to be a hero without learning some handicapped language! No one will know! Thats my final decision!" Not listening to another word, I stormed off. The old hag obviously knew I wouldnt agree to it when she mentioned sign language. I didnt need any of that. I would be fine without it and become the number one hero, deaf or not.
(Im so sorry! It hurts so much to have him call it a handicapped language- i know a fair bit of asl which i will be usuing in this story and i love it so much, grew up with it actually. Its amazing. I really wish i was fluent.... Anyway uh this is the story so far im sorry im not fluent but i try my best and i wont be writing in asl really anyway. Besides hes refusing to learn it at all..... Hope you enjoyed and keep breathing kids)
