Chapter 23: I Thought You Were Just Gay

Yo. Yeah its me. I need to talk to you. All of you. Dont bring anyone else, just you three. Meet me in the yard at 5:00.

For the rest of the day, I hung out with todoroki, doing some studying and just chilling, and even took a hearing break during both studying and when we cuddled and chilled on our phones. I was anxious about the meetup and was doing what I could to distract myself from it.

But after getting a goodbye and goodluck kiss from Shoto, I was walking to the yard at 4:59, hearing aids in and hood on, anxious but as ready as Ill ever be.

Unexpectedly, Mina, Sero, Kaminari, and Kirishima were already there, waiting, not just on time, but early, since I was the last one there. I took a deep breath, and approached them.

There was no going back now.

"Hey, bro! Its been awhile! Whats up?" It had indeed been awhile, especially since I last heard Kirishimas voice.

Mina, Sero, and Kaminari also chirped in, saying how they were happy I reached out, and Mina saying how she was worrried about me.

I was as stiff as a board. I didnt know what to say. I hadnt thought this far ahead, how was I going to tell them?

As they continued talking to me, I brought my hands up, and pulled my hood off.

At first, they were just confused.

"Is it too hot out here, for ya, Bakugo?" Sero asked, and Kirishima said we could go get popsickles, but somehow, the first one to notice was the most dense person I know.

"Uh Bakugo whats that in your ears?"

I wasnt expecting Kaminari to notice at all, to be completely honest. And I still, didnt know what to say.

"Those... Are hearing aids, arent they?" Mina said, then she hugged me. She hugged me tight, and I felt myself break. I refused to cry. I had already cried earlier. But a single tear still fell.

"Oh." Sero said. "Wait. Are you hard of hearing or something?" Kaminari said, causing Kirishima to elbow him. "Give him a second, Kaminari. Actually, lets go sit down."

We all went over to a picnic table, and sat down. "I'm not just hard of hearing. Im deaf." I finally broke the silence. "My quirk caused me to loose my hearing. Im sorry I didnt tell you guys."

"Is that why youve been avoiding us?" Kirishima asked. I nodded. "Huh." Turns out Kaminari could be serious. "Thats a relief, Im glad it wasnt just cuz we were being annoying." Or not.

I felt myself smile. "You are annoying." I lightly punched him. "Trust Kaminari to break the tension!" Sero exclaimed, and we all chuckled.

They all asked some questions, and so I explained how it started, how deku the dumbass found out, when I got my hearing aids, and how I got hella good at lipreading, even though its exhausting, and thats how I was still doing fine in class.

"That, and, well, Todoroki has been helping me too." I added. "Oh, so thats why you two seemed so close!" Kirishima exclaimed. "I just thought you were too scared to tell us you were gay, even though we already knew that, and that you and Todoroki were dating." Kaminari said. I felt my face turn red. Were we that obvious?

"Oh. My. God. YOU ARE DATING!" Mina exclaimed with a squeal. "And yes it was very clear you werent straight, but oh my god tell us everything!"

"YES YES ALRIGHT SHUT UP WE ARE- damnit! Look thats a more recent thing thats not the point!"

"I knew something more was going on btween you too. My gaydars the best." Kirishima declared, and this time, Kaminari elbowed him. "Thats only because your also gay." Kirishima grinned. "Now now, dont be homophobic-"

The two began arguing playfully, and even Sero joined in, saying something about how it was just internalized homophobia on Kaminaris part then, until Mina got fed up. "Shut it! We get it, everyones gay, go gays, but sush! I still want to know how Todoroki and Bakugo somehow got together after being enemies, alright? Shush!"

I rolled my eyes, suppressing a smile. I missed these guys. I also knew I wasnt getting out of this untill I told them everything. So, thats what I did, and we talked until it was dark and finally went our separate ways.

Lol that was fun. Kinda made most of that up on the spot, but worth it. Except the whole I just thought you were dating part, Im obsessed with that hahaha. Its almost one am. Still same day Lew. I should sleep i hafta go to my lil sisters play tomorrow. Yes same sister. Lemme just take my meds and ill see if imma continue writing tonight... Update from a chapter ahead- firstly yes still writing, secondly im an idiot and was just looking at the seating chart for class 1a and suddenly remembered sero exsisted and had to hurry and add him to this meeting.
