 \\\ Y/n's POV  ///

Despite being in the corps, I woke up in a reasonably good mood, but it's what it is. My graduation ceremony is in two weeks, so I need to keep working hard to make it to the top 10. I don't want to join the MPs, but I want to take a seat from one. They are more selfish than I am.

My routine had become normal now, getting up early and going straight to training within an hour. It wasn't like I hadn't had to fend for myself for the last four years, but you know...

While walking to the mess hall, I bumped into Jean and Marco.

"Hey guys, what's up," I said in an unusually cheery voice. It caught me off guard too, like who am I trying to impress with that oh-so-fake voice?

"Hey, Y/n! Good morning!" Marco beamed a smile at me while Jean looked down at the ground as if he was thinking something over before slowly looking me in the eye, flashing a quick smile to let me know he was paying attention to what was being said.

"Good morning Marco," I smiled at the freckled boy. "I wonder what's for breakfast, I'm starving..." I gazed at the brown wooden building in front of us for a moment before walking through the doors.

Almost everyone was already there, save a few people. I walked up to the table holding our trays of food and scowled. It's not like I should've expected any different, gruel and a piece of bread with a boiled egg.

"Man I would kill for you to make me another omelet," I said quietly as I lightly elbowed the sandy-haired boy. He put one arm around my shoulder and leaned into my ear to whisper, "You'll have to do something for me in return." I got shivers down my spine, but almost in a good way? I can't describe the feeling. My stomach felt hot and I could feel my cheeks turning red. All of a sudden I remembered Marco behind us.

I turned around abruptly, a bright blush coating my cheeks.

"Hey what ha-"

"Nothing Marco!" I quickly hid my face in my elbow, clearly embarrassed.

 \\\ Jean's POV ///

I noticed her blush after what I had said. To be honest it was quite cute. I felt a rush of butterflies in my stomach, almost falling over from the feeling. Marco had to hold me up, a confused look adorning his freckled face.

"What was that? Is everything okay? Y/n's face was all red is she-"

"It's fine Marco. Just fine..." I trailed off staring at her walk away to sit with Eren and Mikasa. A few people joined their table and I couldn't help but stare. She was beautiful. I couldn't help but get the feeling I've seen her somewhere, but that would be impossible. She's from Shiganshina in Wall Maria. I lived in Trost so it would be impossible for us to have met before. I shook the feeling and looked down at my unappetizing food, remembering what I said to her. I blushed and put my head in my hands to prevent anyone from noticing a small grunt coming from my lips as I tried to suppress my feelings.

'Why her? We hated each other... This can't be happening.. Do I..-'

My thoughts were cut short by the loud sound of the copper bell coming from the training field. I looked at my untouched tray and stood up.

\\\ 3rd Person POV ///

As the bell rang, signaling the start of training, Jean quickly shook off his thoughts and stood up from the table, determined to focus on the training before him. Marco followed him, still unaware of the mixture of emotions brewing within his friend.

Y/n, Eren, Mikasa, and the others gathered their trays and started to the training field. Jean walked a few steps behind, sneaking glances at Y/n, his heart racing with a mixture of nervousness and something else he couldn't quite place. When they reached the field, the commandant barked orders out, the cadets beginning their training exercises.

Y/n, showing her usual skill and poise, impressed everyone with her strength. Jean couldn't help but feel a mix of admiration and jealousy as he watched her body in action. She was perfect in everything she did. He wished he could be as brave as her.

Throughout the training session, Jean found himself paired up with Y/n for most of the exercises. Their interactions were a mix of mostly friendly banter and intense focus, and Jean couldn't deny the growing bond he felt for her.

Marco observed the training sessions, unaware of the friendship blooming around him. He was focused on his own training, striving to improve his skills and make a name for himself within the corps. As you know his dream is to serve the King and become a valued member of the MPs.

As the training session came to an end, Jean couldn't shake the butterflies in his stomach and thoughts in his head, knowing that he had developed feelings for Y/n that were more than just friendly. He thought he could never find the courage to express his feelings in the future, even as he felt their friendship evolving into something... more. The sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the training field as the cadets went their own ways, their minds already beginning to focus on the challenges that lay ahead. Jean and Marco walked side by side, in comfortable silence as they made their way to the mess hall for supper.
