"Opera!?" Me and Iruma scream. What. The. FUCK. IS GOING ON!? Why, Opera? I just wanted to get a normal familiar! 'Can't I just watch from the sidelines?' I internally cry.
I sigh as Opera pushes himself fully out, and another puff of red smoke appears for a second.
"It's my pleasure to be your familiar Mistress. I shall serve and protect you to the best of my abilities." Opera steps out of the dissappearing smoke in his familiar form.
"You're huge/so big!" Me and Iruma exclaime at the same time. I stare in awe at the giant red Maine coon that is Opera. (Pic of a Maine coon at the beginning of chapter.)
"Extraordinary! He's so fluffy!" Balam picks up Opera and pets him.
"He looks like a Maine coon." Iruma inquires. I nod. "He's definitely a Maine coon, just larger than most." I say.
"Maine coon?" Balam asks. Iruma and I flinch at the question.
"Uhhhhh, It's aaaaaaa uhhhhh-" Iruma tries to come up with an explanation on what Maine coons are.
"It's a species native to our homeland! You may have never heard of it because of how far away it is from here!" I answer quickly. Balam turns to face me.
'I replied with the truth, Maine coons are native to our homeland. Earth is very far from here as well. I just didn't give all the details about where our hometown is, and what exactly a Maine coon is. This way, he won't be suspicious of us.'
Balam beams with interest. "I see! I've never heard of such a creature!" Balam is inspecting Opera's new form as he's talking.
"Well, me and Iruma better be getting home now! Grandpa is probably sulking on his own right now!~" I giggle at the thought.
"Of course." Balam sets Opera down and writes down on his clipboard my score.
'Now that I think about it, Balam was quite the misunderstood character, wasn't he? Everyone always avoided him because of his looks, because he was different from them...'
FLASHBACK:
"Why do we have to hang out with a weirdo like her?"
"MOMMY! SHE'S SO SCARY!"
"Why does my daughter have to look like a monster!? Is she even MY daughter!?"
"You're such a disgrace to the L/N name!"
"How much longer do I կարիք to ለቺ እንክብካቤ ld যে এমনকি আমার না !?"
"You should've never been born!"
"YOU FREAK!!"
END OF FLASHBACK:
"-Ina! -Eina!" 'He's kinda like me..?'
"REINA!" I jolt backward."Reina! Are you okay? You zoned out for a bit." Iruma looks at me worried.
"Oh! I'm fine! I was just thinking of something!" I smile.
"You sure?" Iruma asks. "Positive!" I put a thumbs up. "That's a relief." Iruma turns to Opera.
*sigh* 'Why did I have to remember that?' My smile drops instantly. 'It doesn't even matter.' I look at Balam with Opera and Iruma.
'Maybe...' I walk over to Balam.
"Hm? Do you need something?" Balam asks as I stop in front of him. 'Just maybe..' I grab hold of his hand.
"You're a kind person." I look directly into his eyes. "It doesn't matter that you're different. It makes you, you." His eyes widen. "You're perfect as you are. Don't let others tell you otherwise."
I don't break eye contact and squeeze his hand in comfort. 'Maybe helping him will make these memories go away.'
"Reina! What're you doing!!" Iruma pulls me to the side. "You gotta be more careful!!" He shakes me violently.
"I'm so sorry!! Reina can be a little weird sometimes!! Sorry!!" Iruma bows repeatedly.
"Our apologies, Miss Reina can be one to speak her mind quite often." Balam nods. "I see."
"Though that doesn't mean she didn't mean what she said." Balam widens his eyes in surprise. "Miss Reina told you nothing but the truth, didn't she." Opera walks over to me and Iruma.
Balam looks at the hand I held and smiles. "Stopppp Shakingggg meeeeee!!" I exclaime. Iruma, finally, let's go of me.
"Let's head home. It's getting quite late." Opera says. "Right! Grandpa must be wondering what's taking so long!" Iruma dashes out the door while dragging me.
"Kind." Balam whispers to himself. He then leaves the school feeling content.
"We're back!" I announce. Grandpa is quick to sweep us off our feet and hug us tightly. "What took so long!? I was begging to worry something happened to you two!" Grandpa cries dramatically.
"Sorry for worrying you." Iruma apologizes. "Can I talk to you for a bit?" I ask. "Of course!" Grandpa sets us down. "You can tell me anything!" Grandpa goes into his chibi form.
"I wanna change my uniform." I state bluntly. "Why didn't you say so sooner! Do you want a different top? Different colors?" Grandpa snaps his fingers, and a ton of different uniforms appear.
"Wow, that's a lot of uniforms. Uhhh, I want something more comfortable and less pink?" Nothing against pink, but... I prefer darker colors for my uniform.
"Of course!! Pick out your favorite!!" Racks of uniforms are lined up in front of me. I scan through some of the uniforms. "Do you have any camo uniforms?" I ask.
"Camo?" Grandpa repeats. "Yeah?" Does he not like camouflage clothes? I thought they were cool...
"Camouflage, of course!! I should've known that you liked it." Grandpa snaps his fingers, and camo uniforms appear on racks in front of me. "Derkila liked that too..." Grandpa whispers to himself.
"What was that?" I ask. "Nothing!~" grandpa coos. I shrug it off and begin the hunt.
After HOURS of searching through uniforms, I found one I absolutely loved! It was dark blue Camo, it had black short gloves, the eye thingy was on my belt as metal and without the bow, the heels weren't too high. It was perfect!!
Anddddd, that's it!!
